I have to admit I was surprised that Thaksin took away his DPM position. The two go back a long, long way and must know all sorts of nasty secrets about each other. Chalerm desperately wants to be PM one day and with KY all over the shop he must of thought it was now or never. It would appear it might be never.

Hell hath no fury like a Thai man scorned.

In this case, like a female dog.

Problems in the government were opening doors to a fresh conspiracy to overthrow it, he said, and it was not impossible that Thaksin Shinawatra's political party would be dissolved again.

Now that is an interesting statement by Khun Chalerm. Is it usual that convicted criminals on the run have a political party in their respective country ?

I'm sure someone in the opposition will take a closer look at this declaration.

It is very interesting. Note he has not said 'our political party' or 'we'. He has disassociated himself already he says 'Thaksin Shiniwatras party'! Telling indeed.

Imagine Chalerm and Thaksin going to war with each other. It would not be pretty.

I once saw Chalerm at a hotel breakfast buffet in Phitsanulok more than 10 years ago, trying to act like a big shot of course...he gave me a look like: 'You aint shit" .... How such an animal 'is allowed' to get into office amazes me.

"Bitter Chalerm makes mockery of Cabinet reshuffle"

A government spokesperson said PM Yingluck was contemplating to sue her former Dept. PM for defamation as she was perfectly capable of making the mockery herself. Allegedly that is.

This story has really brought a smile to my face. After all the scorn myself and others on TV have heaped upon Chalerm, glad to know that others in the government have realized his short comings as well.. Regarding his spit the dummy speech about what really happens in Thai politics, he is saying nothing more than what has already been said on TV many times. But he has violated the omerta, the code of silence for the ranking level politicians in Thailand. And for that he will pay dearly. Do not be surprised by seeing him move to the forefront of the investigation for tax evasion on his fleet of luxury cars....

This is great to see him thrown under the bus !!!!!!!!!!!!!

True, and yet Sanoh cursed Thaksin stating from memory that in Chachoengsao they say his name and spit on it, and spoke openly breaking the omerta as well regarding how skim works in Thailand.....was a chief instigator in destabising the house....then just 4 years later they were back to being pee norng gun eek laew.

Chalerm has his own insurance I am sure, that protects him. The illegal casinos in the past that others have claimed he and his family were involved with (along with running numbers on the illegal lottery in his precinct, er, constituency) are but a small part of the rumours that circulate around him. When people describe him as the Thai J Edgar Hoover, they aren't referring to his choice of evening dress, but rather the long and persistent rumour that he has a file on major political families and patrons which are used as a form of leverage to get what he requires.

While he might seem to be thrown under a bus, or perhaps more fittingly these days under a illegally grey market imported vehicle with a dubious ownership history, no doubt what he knows about deals in the past is enough to bring him back from the dead multiple times. Not many senior politicians aid and abet their son to run from the law for 12 months, do a snowjob on the evidence against him, and then proudly parade the son around town while boasting how he did it, and then not long after....end up a deputy PM with the aim of bringing back a convicted fugitive former PM.

You are lucky you only got a look. He is well known for his attempts to stare people down, and to play the big man. ironic given his favourite colour (pink) but I guess that colour doeth not make the man.

Some others have got a pistol butt in the face. Alledgedly of course.

Maybe our former Dept. PM was born on a Tuesday?

PS the alleged pistol butt in face was allegedly to a son of a Thai diplomat. Allegedly solved in an diplomatic way, allegedly, I thinkrolleyes.gif

"Chalerm Yoobamrung may have given more insight into the state of Thai politics than a political scientist can ever tell his students in three lectures combined.

Facing intense speculation that he would be "demoted" in a Cabinet reshuffle, Chalerm painted a gloomy political system where the most powerful pulled all the strings, ministerial appointees are clueless about their assigned jobs but have to accept them anyway, and government politicians won't talk about massive corruption or major state policies in danger of breaking the laws until they are kicked out of key posts."

And this is new insight for the Nation wink.png

With replacing Chalerm this government has signed it's dissolution. Keep an eye on what's gonna come above water in the coming days.

My prognosis are another month before the PTP is dissolved or another coup takes place. Let's pray it doesn't get bloody.

By putting the PM in the defence role it looks like it's been done to avoid a coup, she has already stated she won't make any unwanted changes.

Put the PM in a position where she can give the army what they want is surely the plan. If she gets on the side of the army then this yes woman will have been given some good tactical advice from family.

Actually Chalerm and Thaksin mixing it would be more of a cat fight.... handbags at ten paces stuff. It would only get ugly when they called their friends for back up.

I wonder what he will say tomorrow as Yingluck is to be leading the government in the usual announcement that they will be fighting corruption. Same old story though, long on talk and short on action.

did I miss some thing?

I thought there was no action.smile.png

Well I guess in the negative side there is a lot of action.sad.png

And still after a rant like that he has a seat at cabinet.

Anywhere else, and in any other job, if an employee came out with stuff like that about his employer he would be down the track so fast you wouldn't see his ass for dust.

If indeed he is surviving because he has dirt on others then he had better watch his back because there would only be one way to cover that dirt.

A very recent case of a driver doing murder for only 5 million could be an indication of that.

You think they gonna tell her when they are preparing for a coup ?

I recall that during the last coup there was also certain regiments that supported Thaksin, but were told to stay in their barracks

I'm sure the people at the Labour Department are wondering: 'why us?'

It's always great to see a bully get his come-uppance. But, given that he is still a minister (for how long?), we'll still have plenty of comedy from HMV.

There are more than just one case of alleged pistol whippings, the one I was referring to happened not to a diplomat, just the result of a spot of bad driving.

No doubt it might be in the double digits, were it safe to publically accuse the gentleman in question without fear of worse occurring than just a pistol whipping.

Lovely chap.

" Oh shit Somchai, it is something about delievering babies. Go out and find me 1000, nay make it 10000 midwives. I am going to be the best labour minister ever, so Mr T will make me PM in the next reshuffle in a couple of months"rolleyes.gif

Lost his DPM and shoved off to Labour -but still a cabinett minisiter. Maybe he knows where too many "bodies are buried". The next few months will tell. Going to be interesting to see how he decides to act. This is getting better than the Godfather.

There was a video posted on this forum last week that was taken in Hong Kong where Dr. Thaksin was meeting with mendicants wanting this or that. As Dr. Thaksin's car was pulling away, Mr. Chalerm appeared on the video, staggering and having to be pulled back to the curb. I believe Mr. Chalerm has let the demon 'ear medicine' control his life, loosen his tongue, and ruin his health. I believe the Big Boss noticed this and became afraid that Mr. Chalerm was losing his grip.

Mr. Chalerm cannot admit to himself that he has a 'ear medicine' problem so he is looking around for other reasons for his demotion and the person who probably stands up to his unreasonable behavior the most is Gen. Thawee. Gen. Thawee is a serious man with a hell of a lot of responsibility, with soldiers and teachers dying regularly under his jurisdiction. He probably had many arguments with Mr. Chalerm but who, on this forum or in Thailand, believes Gen. Thawee has the clout to unseat Mr. Chalerm from power.

Having scared Dr. Thaksin with his excessive drunkenness, big mouth, and failing health, Mr. Chalerm should be very careful in the future how he bad-mouths Dr. Thaksin's government. Mr. Chalerm is a loose cannon and may have to be permanently retired for everyone's safety as he is jeopardizing the entire operation.

Dr Thaksin, does that Dr stands for Drunk, inDoctRinating or what, sorry if I ask a stupid question but should it not be Bff Thaksin??

Thaksin received his doctorate in Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University in Texas. Since it take too long to type, 'fugitive, ex-Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra', I just refer to the man as Dr. Thaksin. There is no reason not to be civil as I'm a Southerner.

Interesting how the Super Sleuth, seems to have been out foxed. Maybe his skills are on the wane from too much ear medicine. This could get interesting as the bickering and digit g starts. Chalerm has all but admitted that the PTP is corrupt and incompetent.
