PHUKET: Police have requested an arrest warrant for the Laotian man wanted for repeatedly raping and impregnating his 15-year-old handicapped stepdaughter in Phuket.

“The stepfather has left the country,” Patong Police Officer Teerasak Boonsaeng told the Phuket Gazette.

The 40-year-old man, originally from Laos, has been at large since June 29, when his wife discovered what he had done (story here).

Police used a telephone number provided by the girl’s mother to determine that the man had gone back to Laos.

“We have two plans to apprehend the stepfather. Once we have the arrest warrant in hand, we’ll pass it on to immigration officials because this is now in their jurisdiction. We are also going to be on the look out for the man because we believe he will return to Thailand,” Capt Teerasak said.

“We think he’ll be back because he doesn’t know that his wife reported him to the police, and he has two children here with her,” he said.

Meanwhile, doctors have recommended that the stepdaughter’s pregnancy be terminated.

Doctors at Vachira Phuket Hospital determined that carrying the pregnancy to term would bring health risks to the girl and the baby, Capt Teerasak said.

The girl, 15, is handicapped because of polio.

Since June 29 I drove into Phuket twice, and I noticed police at the checkpoint after the bridge have become slightly more active, not stopping cars but looking who is inside them. Oh well, it could also be for other reasons than looking for this guy.

Funny how they are mobilising to apprehend this Laoatian guy for rape but the Thai couple who tortured that little Burmese girl walk free.....

Thais have free licence "all others go to gaol"

This is illustrated by the recent case in CM where this imbecile shot and injured 3 foreign diners at a restaurant and is given bail.

There are thousands of such cases sad.png

The comment of the policeman in charge shouts "incompetence". Police love to talk. Maybe a long time ago people read only newspapers. Even in Laos the mobile internet is better than in Thailand. His friends, co workers or he himself probably knew even before the police joker had finished his speech that they are looking for him.

If even the Phuket police went to so much trouble to apprehend the criminals that make the lives of tourists and children battered by Thai men as miserable, it would be a much better place.

Going after Laotian stepfather, while worthwhile goal, is once more sending sub message of "we will go after foreigners, but ignore Thai malfeasance". Can't take the competition? Or is it just some right of passage, "Cultural diversity" that some relative molests young girls here? It is so very common here.

The education standards in Laos are such that it's very possible the offender is illiterate. (can not read or write)

Anyway, I hope they get this guy behind bars soon.
