Is there a limit on how many times you can come into Thailand?

Featured Replies

I have been living in Thailand for about a year and a half on a tourist visa. Every time I fly in they stamp my passport and give me 90 days, I am from one of those countries Thailand has a treaty. I have been flying in a out 7 times already and I am starting to worry that at some point they might not let me in.

Did anyone heard or had problems coming in to Thailand after too many entries?

Thank you.

There is no limit on the number of entries you can do by air.

Overland they might question you when you enter as to what you are doing here.

I have been flying in and out for 5 years now every other week, travel one week around Asia, stay one week in Thailand etc. etc. never any questions or problems just in and out on the regular 30 day visa. Sometimes I stay 2 or 3 weeks here at a time but never more than 30 days so I never need to have a special visa. Another thing you might need to keep in mind is if you work for a foriegn company and get paid in foriegn currency; if you stay more than 183 days a year and thats on any 12 month rolling period you would be subject to Thai taxes.

It is 180 days in a tax year which starts in January for tax purposes. Taxes would only need to be paid on money you bring into Thailand.

I actually looked into this when I first moved over here, our comapny uses Price Waterhouse Cooper for the foriegn expats to do there taxes and they gave me the number of the local represenative here in BKK. I was thinking the same thing and then she said no its on any 12 month rolling period and if you stay over the 183 days you full income is subject to Thai taxes. That was right around April that year and according to my schedule I was going to be over the 813 days on the rolling calendar so I told her no problem I will just travel for the next 6 weeks and solve that problem which I did.

The lady at PWC did kind of piss me off, as we are paying them for there services and she seemed to be more interested in helping the Thai Gov to get money out of me than to try and help me out. After that I said no thank you I no longer need your services, they probably get some kind of kickback if they can collect revenue! So you could be right as I have often wondered about the 183 days rolling calendar because that did not seem to make sense.
