The Robocup Thailand Championship

The Robocup Thailand Championship has kicked off, and the tournament will search for the representative who will contend in the RoboCup World Cup 2006 in Germany.

This technological sport event is being held in IT Mall Fortune Town. A young representative will be selected from four teams, including Chulalongkorn University, Bang Mod University, and two remaining teams from Songkhla Nakarin University. The winner will compete in the RoboCup World Cup 2006 in Germany. Each team will consist of five robots, and the game’s regulations are similar to the FIFA rules. Yellow and red cards can be issued, and corner kicks can also be taken. The team who scores ten goals first will be the match winner.

Mr. Pravit Rattanapien, the Science and Technology Minister, said this event will be held every year so robots would be developed to be more capable. He is confident that robots’ development in Thailand will certainly be in the world’s “top ten” list in the near future.
