Hi all

I have just booked my wifes appointment for the premium service in Glasgow for the 9th September. I understood that i was able to go with my wife, But looking on view your appointment, it states number of people attending is 1, So does that mean that my wife has to go through the process herself?

We have booked the 1pm taking into account the travelling and looking for a car park in Glasgow.

I had the same thing with my wife's FLR application in London which stated one person - I went with her without any problems and understand it means the number of applicants rather than the number of people attending. Good luck with the application

Yes, the no. of person(s) relates to no. of applicants. We recently attended Cardiff PEO this year for ILR and the both of you are called to the counter to submit paper work and pay application fee.

Best of luck with the ILR

Thank you both, still putting the finishing touches to the file.

Pleased that i can go in with the wife when so much money is riding on the application.

I'm somewhat confused by all this - applied on-line to book an appointment for the Premium ILR service (paper form submission) at Cardiff office. No appointments seem to be available in October ?!

Now am I supposed to pay a £100 appointment booking fee before 3pm next day by phoning Croydon office else the appt. gets cancelled ?

Also, can I pay the rest on the day of the appointment in person at that office as another confusing link says they no longer accept payments on the day there but it has to be done in advance - or are they referring only to non-card payments.

Further, is the £100 appt fee part of the £1426 fee so if I have to pay Croydon does that get deducted or am I supposed to pay a double appt fee ?

A very confusing UKBA website with far too many sub-menus and links to extra little bits sprinkled everywhere !

to Thomasteve. you wont be able to book an online appointment for October yet. Keep looking though. It should be about 4 weeks before, or I was told 6 weeks, so make your choice.

Yes agree, can be confusing, but it can only be booked at the earliest 10 weeks before expiry of the visa (28days). This is because UKBA website allows a 6 week period (42 days) plus the 4 week window prior to expiry of the ILR. It would be good if the UKBA booking service was clearer. The crux therefore is wait for the 10 week date, and try and then access an available appointment, best of luck!

Booking appointments is a nightmare.

They can only be booked 28 (?) days in advance - the website is useless and logs you out.

You will find many are booked up - Croydon was solid for all 28 days.

You have to what until after midnight or get up early when the "new" day is made available.

Thanks for the advice - now if only they could have added a note to say only 28 days in advance bookable....

I've booked for approx. 6 weeks ahead but will have to try to phone up Croydon, unfortunately, to determine if appt fee has to be paid today.

Do you mean FLR not ILR ?

I don't think it depends on FLR Visa expiry date ? as although the FLR expires in December can you apply for ILR now before the language rules change if applicant is already complying with the 3 year residence rule ??

When booking appointment there's no reference / check made on expiry dates?

Turned out that you must pay the appointment booking fee by phone the next working day after booking, then deduct the £100 from the full stated fee. No mention of this deduction on the form or accompanying notes. Don't they check these things for accuracy before publishing ?

Getting appointments can be a problem. It is said that the best times to log in to get an appointment is just after midnight and 6am!!!

The £100 deduction is fairly recent (months) and is non-refundable if you are a no show. Partly introduced to make more money but partly to stop multiple appointments and subsequent cancellations.
