Redshirts Leader's Bodyguard Injured By Explosion

UDON THANI: -- A bodyguard of the bombastic Redshirts leader Mr. Kwanchai Pripana was injured after he encountered an explosive in the lawn of the radio station frequently visited by Mr. Kwanchai in Udon Thani province.

Mr. Jaroon Suphata, 45, encountered the explosive when he was digging at the lawn outside the radio station, according to the police. One witness told our correspondent that Mr. Jaroon was making a watercourse before he noticed a piece of roof-tile, which was suspiciously left on the ground.

He later used the digger to lift it up and suddenly the bomb exploded, severely wounding him in the two legs and the abdomen.

Mr. Kwachai, who serves as the provincial representative for the National United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD), was not in the area at the time, as he was in Bangkok to observe the anti-government protests. It is not clear why Mr. Jaroon did not accompany Mr. Kwanchai to Bangkok.

Speaking from Bangkok, Mr. Kwanchai said that he heard about the incident and is travelling to visit Mr. Jaroon as soon as he can.

The Redshirts leader, known for his aggressive and confrontational behaviour, suggested that the incident is of political nature, saying that he and his fellow activists are only fighting for democracy but "many people are using harmful weapons to eliminate us".

He and his friends are victims of deadly political game, Mr. Kwanchai said, and he claimed that a few days earlier someone placed a bomb just outside his house, but the explosive was inactive.

Mr. Kwanchai vowed that he would do whatever he can to bring justice to this incident, since Mr. Jaroon is his personal guard.

However, Mr. Kwanchai himself is also facing a different legal issue in Bangkok, where he was seen wearing riot police uniform near the protest sites without clear authorisation from the police force. Media reports suggest that he might be subject to criminal investigation.

He might also sprout wings and fly......which is probably more likely.

I have seen Kwanchai strutting around in Udon and he is a mean, arrogant mother but what's sick is the face and deference he gets and does he love it !

This is the kind of Frankenstein that PTP created, used and now have lost control of.

Kwanchai has many enemies within the red shirts, there's no love lost between him and several red shirt leaders. He should be going to jail soon as the guilty verdict with its prison sentence of assault on the yellow shirts in Udon years ago, has reached the final court, the Supreme Court.

One should also ask why, given the potential for violent clashes in Bangkok, and his claims of another explosive device placed outside his house, Kwanchai left his "personal bodyguard" behind in Udon - to install a water feature in the grounds of the radio station, while he strutted about in riot gear?

I think the riot gear wearing was some time ago, most likely 2010. After 3+ years, the suggestion that he "may" face criminal investigation seems purely satirical as any investigation of red shirts ceased on election day.

I thought it was reported this week. He and some others were caught wearing police uniforms while "protecting" the government from the protests against the amnesty bill.

It was..........

One day ago.

Mr Kwanchai, chairman of a red-shirt group in Udon Thani province, admitted that he was wearing a police uniform near the parliament building.

He said he did so "to motivate Udon Thani policemen who had been sent to the capital to help city police."

Must have missed that while on visa run.

The idea that red shirts are allowed to don police uniforms to "assist" the RTP "protect" the government is a serious escalation of the private militia concept. Isn't Kwanchai on bail from charges laid during 2010?

Actually he was like this well before PTP was even an idea as backstop,

but they just co-opted his pitbull act onto the PTP process

He was like this up there during TRT and PPP.

Dear Jaroon,

Go and get a bigger digger

Love and kisses
