hey everyone,

i have a quick question. my friend & i are going to fly to bankgok on the 30th of august. we were planning on heading north from there, visiting chiang mai, mae hong son & chiang rai area.
apparently, those areas are pretty badly affected by a dengue outbreak/epidemic. I've read several articles on the situation and i am not sure if it's ok to go through with the travel route as planned or if it would be advisable to opt for travelling south (to the gulf islands).
i'm not sure how to assess the situation or to determine how much of a gamble it is to travel the northern regions. on the one hand, i'm not too keen on putting my health at risk, on the other hand i'm not certain how big/"real" the danger i would be subjecting myself to actually is.
if any of you have any information or advice on the topic that could be helpful to me - be it subjective estimates based on your experiences or general advice - i'd be very grateful.
