Ed Visa - Proof of Income

Featured Replies

Does the application process for an Ed Visa require proof of funds / income as well? If so, how much is needed?

Many thanks in advance.

No

As above no it is not required

Wrong, it is required.

I just joined a Thai language course here in Samui at a place called Thai Language Solutions.

I solicited ALL the schools here and they all asked for a bank statement.

Do your homework and you'll see for yourself.

50,000 baht is required, by the gov.

Sorry folks, but this is going by first hand experience.

By what government office.

Not required by immigration for extensions or MFA for visas.

I just interviewed two Jomtien area language schools and there is no requirement for income other than the tuition and visa fees. The requirements you speak of are the first I've read of.

50, 000 for what? A deposit? Just to show you have 50K in the Bank? What exactly did you need the statement for?

I renewed my 1 year visa last month and was not asked for this, and there have been no other reports about it that I have read either

Well the 2 school i use to now, all so put in the paper for immigration that the student have at least 50.000 baht pr month too support him/her self.

So it is not new..

But for now the Immigration i use, never ask me to prove i have at least 50.000 baht pr month, and not a problem for me if they ask..

I do think many student hand over the paper from the school before reading it them self, i all ways read the paper first, together with my teacher, and later my girlfriend at home, to be sure it is correct....

So,is that 50k per month income they want to see or is there a minimum amount you need in your bank account upon application?

I think this is another strange Samui immigration requirement.

I was referring to the "two-legged" ATM. Sorry, bad joke.

I knew a lot of folks who got an ED visa when they went to English school at CMU. Nobody was asked about money in the bank. Of course, maybe they knew the school would only be open for 3 more weeks ..... whistling.gif
