Thai officials not involved in missing visa stickers

How does he know? To step out and say that so quickly makes you wonder..know someone else who was quick to do that. Why not wait for the final investigation so one doesn't need to put their foot in their mouth?

Obviously, a Thai was involved since they are visa stickers for Thailand. So somewhere along the chain a Thai or Thais were involved. Why in the world would this Thai official come out so quickly and state No Thai is involved? Objectivity absent, that would indicate that he is now on a witch hunt to find a fall guy who is not Thai like a muslim Malaysian or some other foreigner.

Man caught in phuket had sticker missing from KL; 'Mama' said to be behind scam

A THAI VISA sticker believed stolen from the Thai Embassy in Malaysia has been found in the passport of a suspected drug smuggler in Phuket, according to an informed source.

The suspect was arrested by Phuket immigration police yesterday morning on charges of possessing an undisclosed amount of cocaine.

"Further checks reveal that he entered Thailand with his passport containing one of the visa stickers that had been reported missing," the source said, adding that police were investigating the case further in a bid to nail down all accomplices.

According to the Foreign Ministry, more than 250 of the "missing" visa stickers have already been used and 105 people with passports with stolen stickers had already left the country. It was recently reported that 300 of the visa stickers disappeared from the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Immigration Bureau chief Pol Lt-General Panu Kerdlarppol said yesterday that 11 people with the stolen visa stickers had been arrested so far.

"Immigration officials nabbed five of them at Suvarnabhumi Airport," the immigration chief said.

Meanwhile, a source said a Thai woman referred to as "Mama" was allegedly behind this case.

"She's active in Bangkok's Pattanakarn area. She's still in Thailand," the source said.

Ongoing investigation suggests that the foreign nationals handed over their passport, a photograph and Bt10,000 to "Mama" to apply for the visa, and a few days later, they were required to pay another Bt20,000 to retrieve their passport with the relevant visa.

Pol Colonel Chartchai Iamsaeng, deputy commander of the Immigration Bureau, said yesterday that one or more embassy officials might be part of "Mama's" gang.

"We are working with the Foreign Ministry to determine the connection [between embassy officials and the gang]," he said.

He added that members of the gang were not Muslim, though security agencies were looking into the case to see if it might have a hand in the unrest in the deep South.

A source who was once part of the Immigration Bureau's investigation team said he had learnt that Thai visa stickers had gone missing at other Thai embassies as well.

"Registered complaints show the number of missing slips is more than 1,000," the source, who worked with the team from 2005 to 2006, said.

The source also believes that some embassy officials might have a hand in the illegal trade of Thai visa stickers.

I think there must be something lost in translation according to the term "involved."

If no official was involved, who the heck is in charge to keep these visa lables under thight wraps, and make sure only authorised persons get their hands on them, the Nigarian cleaning woman?

You could have made your point without sounding like a racist bigot. The embassy is staffed by Thai and Malaysian nationals. No Nigarian working there in any capacity.

Nigarian as in nigga or Nigerian, you are still out of line.

Ranter why do have to bring racialism into this we are just people who like to moan and groan if you have a problem then don't answer here and don't look simple..

Who was responsible for document control? Seems to be a process problem.

Not the Thai's apparently.

Great isn't it. Apparently foreign employees have uncontrolled access to Thai government documents.

What do the Thais do in work? Sit down and tell the Malays what to do apparently?

"A source who was once part of the Immigration Bureau's investigation team said he had learnt that Thai visa stickers had gone missing at other Thai embassies as well." And that makes the situation better ?

You all have to understand "Thailand’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed that no Thai officials were involved in the disappearance of 300 visa labels from the Thai embassy in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.". That means it has to be some Malay working for the office. But what did the Thais responsible do when it happened ???????????????????????? I think some Thai officials have been involved, despite the Foreign Ministrys knowlegde in this case before it is investigated.

I think the top figures in the foreign ministry should go home to their rice fields instead of encroaching on the Thai people.

And a Thai woman called "Mama" has already been identified in another news story. So the Thai official making the comments that no Thais were involved is a preposterous example of a Thai government cover up.

Elsewhere in the news, General Prayuth - the Thai Commander in Chief - has said that the loss of the stickers should not cause any security problems in Thailand.

Well, sounds like the lid is beginning to slowly close on this particular can of worms.

That's assuming - of course - that the CIA and other interested parties will let it, which I very much doubt.

Maybe the general should read the news on the recent conviction of the two Iranian bombers, the escape to Malaysia of the Iranian master passport forger (now under arrest in KL) and the ongoing bombings and murders in the south.

Anyway, let's see what today brings. thumbsup.gif

Of course Thai people are 100% innocent and the fact that genuine Thai visas are on sale in Malaysian pubs and restaurants has notheing to do with Thai people as some wicked farangs or blackies must have stolen them all in the night from the embassy and all the Thai Visa companies in Bangkok well I guess we should not talk about them or we might accidently insinuate that a Thai might be involved in the massive Thai underground visa business
