Has anyone run into problems with this?

Here in Mexico where the officials of course cannot read Thai they go by the English translation in the Thai passport. It seems it should be obvious that "Mrs" is a title and not a name but then again the obvious and simple are difficult for some functionaries. Immigration is the main stumbling block with this and they insist Mrs [or Miss if that be the case] is part of the name.Over the years we have made / or been made to conform all Mexican documentation to include Mrs [My wife's bank account has her as Sra Mrs].

New immigration streamlining has made it possible to get a Residente Permanante status and good bye [forever] to the annual trips to Immigration [annual is not so bad when compared to the Thai system - Permanent is a dream] I got my 'green card' and a nice welcome letter a month or so ago based on longevity. My wife needs another year or two but as mother of Mexican born children qualifies based on that. All documents in hand and under review Immigration wants to see the twins' Mexican passports - and they have to be valid. Ours are expired [only good for a year] so no big deal - off to the passport office In by 10 out by 2 with passport in hand. Well it worked 18 months ago that way. This time the clerk looks at the kids' Birth Certificates and notes that my wife's name is listed as "Niyakorn" instead of "Mrs Niyakorn". So the application is rejected. We've been doing the run around with Registro Civil who issue BC's but they won't do a Recticficacion Administrativa and pass the buck to another office saying we need a Rectificacion Judicial which is a big deal in time effort and of course $$ [and from word we have from one of the judges they deny Voluntary changes even though in this case we are arguing that we are compelled.] It goes on and on.

So my question - is there anyone else here in Mexico that has faced and solved this problem? [probably not as there are fewer than 100 Thais in the country] OR if you are in another country have you encountered this problem and how have you solved it? Thanks for any tips you can give.

There is one simple solution: we can wait 15 years until the kids are 18 and they can apply on their own [with the sin Mrs BC] but we don't want to wait that long.
