Can a U.S. citizen open an account with Bank of America in Bangkok as an American account? Or does someone know what status this is?

Can anyone share their experience?

Thanks.

Don't think that there is a Bank of America in Bangkok!

There actually is. I used to have my office in the same building.

If I'm not incorrect, they don't do retail banking in Thailand.

BOA Bangkok:

http://promo.bankofamerica.com/th/contact_us.html

"Bank of America, N.A. opened its Bangkok branch in December 1949 with just 25 staff. It was the first American bank to be established in Thailand and was located at 1069 New Road, near the General Post Office. The bank is currently located at All Seasons Place, CRC Tower, 33rd Floor, 87/2 Wireless Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330."

Right, knew there was a branch in BKK (good to know for those who didn't) but I think my query could be better defined.

Recently, I received a check from the U.S. , issued by BoA and want to deposit it there as my hopes would be that it would be at my immediate (as immediate as can be) disposal once I was in the U.S.. Maybe that is more clear. Thanks.

They don't do retail banking in Thailand. There is no branch as in "walk in as a retail customer and open an account"
