Hi all,

I have just recently gained a settlemtent visa for me and my wife to the UK

My questions are,

My friend is just apling for a SV visa for himself and his wife. What do you think there sucess rate is?

He is in fulltime employment so hopefuly no problems there.

They have just married so have all the appropiate paperwork

They have been together for 1 year now which includes 3 visits to Thailand to see her. Also he has accomodation for when they return to England.

Is there any points which may be held against there application or do you think there application will be fine due to there circumstances.

Obviously they will submit there appication anyway but is there any areas you can see where there may be any problems or do you think there application will be fine.

Any replys will be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Most of the criteria for a settlement visa are easily fulfilled. However, the one rule that is open to the most subjective interpretation is the requirement to intend to live together permanently. In deciding whether this criterion has been met, the visa officer will look at how strong the relationship already is. Your friend and his wife should therefore submit as much evidence of the duration and closeness of their relationship as they can; e.g. e-mails, photos, greetings cards, letters, phone cards/bills etc. If your friend's wife is interviewed, she will be expected to demonstrate a knowledge of him, his family, and his circumstances in the UK.

Cheers,

Scouse.

From what you have said, I reckon that they have an excellent chance of success.

I have no evidence to back this up, but from what has been said by unsuccessful applicants, the main reason for failure is that the applicant has simply failed to satisfy the ECO that the relationship is genuine. Sometimes through not supplying sufficient evidence of contact, sometimes through slipping up at interview as they try to hide something, but mainly because they simply have not known each other long enough.

I'm sure that your friend and his wife will not make these mistakes.

Chok Dee to them, and you and your wife for your new life together.
