BANGKOK, Oct 2 – Thailand's Industry Ministry has given its assurances that industrial estates nationwide would be free from floods this year.

Industry Minister Prasert Boonchaisuk said a 24-hour flood monitoring centre has been opened to give prompt assistance to industrial operators.

So far, 39 factories and 14 community enterprises have been affected by floods and damages were initially estimated at Bt4 million, he said.

He said the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) has prepared anti-flood measures and a six kilometre dyke to protect the Saha Rattana Nakhon industrial estate in Ayutthaya province, some 80 km north of Bangkok.

In the eastern province of Prachin Buri, the minister pledged that 304 industrial estates in Kabin Buri district and Saha Pat industrial park would not be hit by floods.

The latest report as of yesterday said 39 industrial estates in seven provinces – Udon Thani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chantaburi and Suphan Buri – have been affected by floods, and manufacturing has been suspended in four provinces of Ubon Ratchathani, Chanthaburi, Suphan Buri and Prachin Buri. Minister promise flood-free industrial estates.

Same artical said 39 industrial estates been hit by the floods.

Second the building dams/walls around some estates so infrastucture for delivery and recieved goods not possible.

Flood-free but factories shut down.

The dykes around the estates have access ramps going over them, so you can get in and out..... unless the water is so high that even reaching the estate becomes a problem, as in 2011.

The dykes primary purpose is to keep whatever is inside dry so that they factories inside can kick off again as soon as the surrounding waters have gone. Most companies should have contigency plans to place the lost production capacity at their other sites, assuning they have them. Those that don't will just have to wait it out.

Surely there is a grammatical error here regarding the Industry Ministers comments.

According to all that was said and spent there would be no problems regarding flooding of the industrial estates ( forget the population at large though) hence it is a past tense comment.

Yet here we have a comment being made concerning the future plans hence it is a future tense.

Seems to me that the public relations department need some more lessons in Thaksinspeak and the use of tenses too.

So where has all that money earmarked for flood prevention and of course those physical flood barriers too gone too I ask?

Must be a parallel Thailand elsewhere in this universe, however it would seem as if we aren't in it.

Thai language doesn't have tenses. Simple

Does the expression ''Simple'' refer to the language, the person who made the statement or the electorate at large?whistling.gif
