Perhaps quite a bit more naive though. Sometimes I see old women at the market who speak nitnoi English and I wonder how they learned it. All those bargirls after the Vietnam war had to go back home and face the reality of living on the farm again. Many of them I can still picture to this day. I can't remember seeing any of the films but in any event she would have been dubbed into Cantonese.
