types of visa i can apply and which one is the best option.

Featured Replies

hi, i am a malaysian married to a malaysian who is working in thailand. i am currently on a non-immigrant visa with which needs to be renewed and extend for every 90days. as i travel quite often, for holidays and back home i applied for the multiple entry visa well. and i discovered it is very expensive. I am considering a few options now before my visa expires in Jan.

1. continue with my ed visa.

2. apply for dependant visa

3. use tourist visa to travel back and forth

i prefer to get a dependant visa. but my husbands company only provides us the documents for processing and will charge us 'legal fee' costing 10k plus baht. we were told the process is very complicated and tedious. how do i apply for dependant visa exactly? i do not mind the trouble at all if i were to do it myself. anyone can provide links will be much appreciated. and my husbands contract is expiring in april, so if i apply in jan, will my visa expires the same time as my husbands work permit? or i will still get a 1 year visa?

if i apply for tourist visa for 60days stay, will i be in trouble if i go back and forth for more than a couple of times? it might be not always from malaysia. i do travel to other countries. will i be refuse from entering? the last time i read there is no limits of time per year if provided i always have a return ticket printed.

any advise will be much appreciated.

thank you !

If your husband has an extension of stay from immigration and a work permit you can easily get an extension of stay as his dependent. It normally only requires your marriage certificate in Thai or English and copies of his passport showing his extension of stay stamp.

It certainly does not justify a 10k baht legal fee because you can easily do it your self. Since you already have a non immigrant ED visa you can apply for the extension during the last 30 days of any of your entries.

If your marriage certificate is not in Thai or English you would have to have it translated to Thai and have the translation certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (translation service can do this for a small fee).
