SONGKHLA, Nov 16 – Police will issue warrant to arrest a Malaysian on charge of stealing data from ATM machines to withdraw people’s cash.

Ittipol Atchariyapradit, Songkhla deputy police commander, said yesterday that evidence from a close-circuit camera led to three Malaysians who withdrew cash from an ATM of Kasikorn Bank in the southern city of Hat Yai.

Police would submit available evidence to Phyathai police in Bangkok in order to issue an arrest warrant for one of the suspects, identified as Won Eng Soon, he said.

Pol Col Ittipol said Immigration police countrywide have been told to look out for the suspects. (MCOT online news)

Great that you have warned them. Nothing worse than being caught off guard.

You just gotta love the Thai cops......always pre-warning felons!

Then again...now they have to look for him....could take months...must arrange a budget.....probably more funds needed...yawn...??...mai pen rai...:))

Thanks for the warning... clap2.gif

The thai government MUST bar those found guilty of crime charges from entering into the kingdom for at least 10 yrs.

I hope this culprit will not escape.

Try forever after serving 30 years in jail

All I see is a guy at an ATM.. how did he steal data ???

The phrase "to withdraw people's cash" suggests that they had not yet done so.

By the way, ATM hackers steal the cash from the bank.. it's the bank that subsequently steals the money from the customer rather than suffer the loss themselves.

Banks are responsible for the loss, though, because they have to make sure that their ATMs are safe to use for their customers!

Do you live in Thailand? cheesy.gif

Fighting crime in Thailand cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

The alleged offence took place in Hat Yai so the BKK police have to issue a warrant? w00t.gif Why should a warrant be necessary anyway? As for announcing that they are going to obtain a warrant rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

Inspector Clouseau for Police chief clap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif

They should have the photo in large size so that we can identify the man. Maybe he is in the same apartment with us

The RTP expect to arrest the suspect soon? Any bets that he is back in Malaysia? They couldn't find Kamnam Pho, Chalerm's murderous son,the couple who poured boiling water over their maid amongst many others. I wonder why that is?

They were never going to catch him anyway, at least this way they scare him a bit.

Why do you have to have a warrant to arrest a person you suspect or know has committed a crime, and why do the RTP have to warn him first.

The only reason i can think of is "Tea Money"

Thai criminals, when caught, will confess to a "resume" of criminal activity, including the names of accomplices. Why should the cops be any different? It's the exact same mentality! Huh?blink.png

In theory the banks are responsible for the loss, in practise it seems they give you the runaround until you give up. At least that is the story from

TV members.

FYI: the american NSA recently announced that they had broken all encryption. the first of this current spate occurred near the american embassy in wireless road.

recall also that it wasnt too long ago that the americans were accusing the thai banks of money laundering thus causing the thai banks to unnecessarily lose a lot of legitimate business

add up the evidence and make your own conclusion.
