It must be nice.

It must be nice to live in a world where we are right and they are wrong, where things are clearly black or white with no annoying shades of grey. If we label ourselves as good, then anything we do is justifiable, because the other side is bad.

I must be stupid, because after living in Thailand for 36 years, the answers are not as clearcut and simple as they seem to be for others. And heaven forbid anyone mention common sense or compromise, for obviously it has to be one way or the other.

I marvel at those who possess crystal balls and are so quick to proclaim, at the top of their lungs and in great detail, what will happen in the future. I guess I am but a simpleton because I have no idea what the future holds. I suspect, naively perhaps, most of us will find a way to cope as we always have, regardless.

Still it must be nice, to be so certain that one is right and those who believe differently are wrong.

This sounds like an argument with the wife. She's always right, you know. Haven't you learned that after 36 years?

My thoughts went slightly beyond the home front but I can see your point.

People who like to make proclamations are also often full of righteous indignation if you argue against them or produce facts to break down their argument. But even worse are the "I told you so" crowd. Trouble is, we all have opinions, but some people are able to couch them in terms that are not so arrogant as others. Which is why I modestly predict that david48 will reply to this thread in about 20 minutes. I have a friend - well, ex-friend now - who is the archetypal bar stool philosopher. He in noway can accept that he is wrong about anything, yet his observations are guided only by what he sees and hears on his bar stool. Irritating.Lacks any ability to stretch his imagination, and then blusters when proven wrong.

I think I know the same guy.wink.png

I am certain I know that same guy as he posts on the forum!

Cheers

Am I missing something?...right /wrong ....black/white....what moron thinks this way? Not any I care to speak too!

The universe is too big and there are too many people around ...all with opinions of which they are right in someway....just because it is not the same as someone else's does not make them wrong! We all see the same thing but from a different view/angle/perspective!

We have to remember when we look at a house, for example, some are standing in front of it and see exactly that ....the front...BUT some are standing in the back ...and guess what ...even though they are looking at the same house they see something different.

It all boils down to respect....respect one another....and respect another mans opinion (or at least that he is entitled to one)....being able to "agree to disagree" makes life a little easier ....I think

After being subjected to grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, brothers, sisters, teachers, friends, bullies, and then topping it off with 4 children from a couple wives, I have become most adept at admitting I was wrong, even if proven right. I look forward to sunset and sunrise as the most peaceful times of the day, its the warfare in between that is a real trial. I have found that a nap, sometimes two, during the day make the day seem more agreeable.

you and me could form an exclusive club.
