Protest leader defies DSI chief’s orders



BANGKOK: -- People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) Suthep Thaugsuban last night defied the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief’s summon to acknowledge insurrection charge on December 26.

Describing DSI chief Tarit Pengdit’s action as a serious abuse of power, Suthep said he would not show up to hear the charges imposed on him and 16 other colleagues but would assign his lawyer to hear instead as he was busy with a more import task of ousting the caretaker prime minister.

But he said he would consider filing a petition against the DSI chief with the National Anti Corruption Commission (NACC) on power abusing.

Meanwhile an independent lawyer advised all who have their bank accounts impounded by the DSI to file civil suit against the DSI in the Civil Court for the suspension of the order with reason that such freezing would seriously hurt their normal daily lives.

He was confident that the court would agree as the DSI’s action is a serious threat to human right and abuse of power.

Seems hard to file insurrection charges against him if all he is doing is leading protests to delay the election's that are with in the law. If it was illigal to delay the election then they would have a case to stand on.

In filing these charges it is the PTP's way of saying we do not want to reform. The government is saying we want to keep up with the same corrupt system.

Suthep knows how the system and those who are within the system , work and think. I might not agree with some of his antics and verbal ranting, but to call for reform of a system that he is showing the people of Thailand and the world, how broken the Thai system of government is, is more than anyone else has done.

The incompent people have been put in the spotlight and they are just digging the hole deeper with the press releases and finger pointing, they have been making over the past few weeks. Both sides of this mud fight seem to be looking for the other side to make major error so they can win. They seem to be unaware that most games are lost due to a combination of errors which involves several people, not a single person or incident.

No, it is not plain and simple harassment. It is clearly abuse of power. I do hope Suthep and others file lawsuits against the DSI and name Tarit very prominantly in those lawsuits. Tarit needs to be stopped, and soon. In fact, at this point, I think he has shamed and disgraced the DSI to the point where they can never recover their reputation (not that they ever really had one), and so should be disbanded.

I think the OP is suggesting that it seems strange that a series of brand new posters - Magenta, Jack Rich, come to mind - seem to suddenly appear, post dozens of quick-fire, vitriolic pro-Thaksin opinions, and then disappear after a week or two. It is a strange phenomenon... maybe someone can enlighten us.
