Official X'mas and New Year Holidays in Pattaya

Featured Replies

I'm told all offices in Pattaya will be closed on Friday 27th all the way till 6th January 2014.

How true is my information ? Are the banks open during this period ?

Banks are closed from Saturday, 28 December until New Year's Day 1 January. Holiday calendar of Bangkok Bank, for example: http://www.bangkokbank.com/BANGKOKBANK/ABOUTBANGKOKBANK/ABOUTUS/CORPORATEPROFILE/BBLTODAY/Pages/BankHolidays.aspx

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Define "offices" There are no official holidays for Xmas, and for New Year it's 30/12, 31/12, ,01/01. Some bank branches especially in malls will be open but they will not be doing more than local transactions.

Govt announces 30 December as public holiday

BANGKOK, 15 October 2013 (NNT) – The cabinet has decided to extend the New Year holidays to five days, announcing December 30 as an additional public holiday.

According to the government spokesperson, the cabinet has approved The Secretariat of the Cabinet’s request declaring Monday, December 30, 2013 as an additional public holiday.

It is expected that the extended holiday will lead to more public spending, which, in turn, will drive the economy forward and support the tourism sector.

This year-end holiday season will begin on December 28, 2013 to January 1, 2014, for a total of 5 days.
