What year was this photo taken? A New Year's Day quiz

Featured Replies

Looking through my photo collection of Thailand, I discovered this photo that I took on New Year's Day.

What year/decade do you think I took this photo, bearing in mind the following:

- I first visited Thailand 30 years ago

- I took this photo at around midday on New Year's Day (height of the high season)

- There is no-one on the beach as far as the eye can see

- There were no boats in the sea, no banana boats or jetskis!

- This photo was NOT taken in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami

Let's see if someone can guess the year smile.png

No prizes - just for fun

1995

2014

AND there is no garbage on the beach.....so obviously take a LONG time ago!

Not a lot to go on but say...1984

Hi, I won't be guessing, sorry about that.

As you were here 30 years ago...1983....I don't count the one day of 2014!

1988

And the winner is ....

Taotoo!!

After a New Year's lunch today, I popped down to my local beach to take this photo. As far as the eye could see, there was not a soul. That's not due to a lack of tourists - my local beach is always pristine clean and devoid of tourists, just a few fishermen.

That's a secret!

Phuket forum members should be able to identify the beach. The reason for posting this photo was to show those cynics that Phuket is not just Patong or the other tourist beaches. There are still many quiet and unspoilt areas on this island.
