webfact Posted January 8, 2014 Share Posted January 8, 2014 Concerns loom for the mentally ill if Bangkok gets shut downBANGKOK, 8 January 2014 (NNT) — The Mental Health Department has expressed concerns over the mentally ill patients that would be affected by Bangkok’s shutdown on January 13.Director-General of the Mental Health Department Jessada Chokdamrongsuk stated that he is worried about the estimated 1 million mentally disordered patients nationwide who must receive their medication - especially those residing in Bangkok.If Bangkok were to shut down, stated Mr. Jessada, those who are in need of medication will be affected as well. In order to properly disseminate the medicine to patients within Bangkok during the shutdown, 3 mental institutes will be responsible in handling the situation, which will include Rachanukol Hospital, Somdet Chaopraya Institute of Psychiatry, and Ratchanakharin Psychiatric Hospital.For those who are unable to receive treatment and medication at the sites stated above, other hospitals close to Bangkok in the metropolitan area will be able to dispatch the medication, which include Srithanya Hospital, Yuwaprasart Hospital, and Kalaya Ratchanakharin Institute.For more information, please call 1323, 24-hours a day.-- NNT 2014-01-08 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Surat Thani is a provincial medical hub and the hospital is classified as a strategic hospital. It should already have a stockpile of the most common of medications because of its regional role. You may wish to inquire if the medication is available there. The protests shouldn't be longer than a few days at worst. slapout Posted January 8, 2014 Share Posted January 8, 2014 The various Ministries, their Department heads and others being paid to do a job and handle the out of the ordinary, need to spend their time preparing for 'maybes' and 'what ifs', instead of holding press conferences to rehash to the public what is a given. "Its going to be inconveint" Is there no preperation for the unexpected in their thought process? We hear volumes about the why something failed, partially or completely,its late, lost, misplaced, fleeing, etc (excuses) for failure of a job being done as required/planned. About the only group I have noticed who seem to go on their merry way come hell or high warer, is TAT and I would not let them book me into a hospital if iI were on deaths bed. Thailand has two to three times the number on payroll, as needed, as they take turns slapping each on the back, while muttering 'attaboy'.just for gracing the workplace with their occasional presence.
