Meaning of a phrase

Featured Replies

Hello

Thai language is new to me and I try to understand the meaning of: สันดานเสีย

As I understand:

สันดาน - noun, colloquial - one’s bad trait or behavior by birth [showing disapproval]

เสีย - adjective, colloquial - [is] dead; not living

Would that mean that person with bad trait/behavior by birth is dead?

Please tell me that I am wrong and there is another meaning.

You're correct.

You would tell this to someone to blame him. It's very strong language, be careful with it.

Thanks

So a person would say this to insult another person? Or is there another meaning?

Could the person who said this refer it to himself?

เสีย in this context means "bad". It is used to mean "dead" euphamistically when referring to, say, the passing of a monk.

"Would that mean that person with bad trait/behavior by birth is dead?"

I'm a bit confused by the answers as none of them imply anyone is dead.....and indeed, there is no death implied in the phrase.

Well then I will explain the context it was used. The friend of mine posted a photo of herself and her daughter on facebook with this phrase in the title. Now I'm confused as she loves her daughter. After that she disappeared and I'm starting to worry

Yes. No. Yes.

เสีย is not related to dead in this expression. It just means "not good".

I think the message on facebook was just a joke.
