The government is not in some perilous spiral of debt. Calm down.

45%,of GDP is still manageable. Doesn't mean that the rice thing is a good policy though.

Oppositions of the government kept talking about spiral of debt. AV, when warned by BOT that his populist policies - subsidies and handouts, might cause public debt to surge past the legal debt ceiling of no more than 50% of GDP,countered the BoT's warning by claiming it was just expression of opinion in a technical manner. Is he still using the same argument?

The legal debt ceiling is 60% under the Public Debt Management Office Act of 2005 but carry on. If you really want to read about the various scenarios try here;

From the Asian Correspondent article: Kittirat says the sustainabale level is 60%, does that make it the law?

... is the fact that the Gov't bought the rice at a price higher than the market is right now. So no matter how much they sell, there's no way to fund all the payouts.

Any which way they try to spin this they're screwed

I'm starting to think that Yingluck S. should be arrested and put away for a long long time, after all of her and her family's assets are seized,

Or just export her to Dubai to join her crooked dad (I don't understand why they say she is his sister)

Cut out some stuff ...

<deleted>! You don't know that Thaksin OWNS the government?

You think so??? How??? I don't he OWNS.

You really, really should read the Thaksin Shinawatra wiki : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaksin_Shinawatra

and the Phua Thai wiki : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pheu_Thai_Party

last but not least :

Still cannot convinced me with these wiki things. No proof that Thaksin OWNS the government.

There is a name for people who exhibit the level of denial in the face of overwhelming evidence to contrary.

You posts remind of the "Njet" man, a certain Andrei Gromyko

Red apologists are many in TV, they almost all exhibit the same failure of intellect.

Now Popper gets quoted to back up the giant pooper who is ruining the country...

the mind boggles.

And so, to make the circle of the absurd complete, the anti-Thaksin Popper quote.

"Those who promise us paradise on earth never produced anything but a hell."

"There is no history of mankind, there are only many histories of all kinds of aspects of human life. And one of these is the history of political power. This is elevated into the history of the world."
Karl Popper

There is a name for people who exhibit high level of distortion, and call it overwhelming evidence. They exhibit such arrogant attitude and is a shame to the intellect. You can find them living in 'victim mentality' and 'educated derelict' world. They don't even know the meaning of 'OWNS'. They can easily be spotted using third hand information and call them truth and evidence. You don't need much education to easily identify them because they constantly blame their failures on others, circumstances and use lies, distortion to make them feel better or to ease their pain.

Your comments is so full of misguided thoughts. Simply the government won't even disclose any figures. They even claimed that the G-G deal was real and in fact it was not. If they allow the law enforcement dig through all the dealings, they will find out that it is full of corruptions. Maybe you need to do a little more research.

On the record, no one is oppose to helping the farmers. But when the money do not reach the farmer's hand, then that becomes a huge problem. Are you saying that you support that too. Because that is exactly what is happening here. Or are you still listening to propaganda. We have only scratched the surface here into this rice scam. G- G is just one. The govt can sell the rice because it tried to make under the table deals with rice sellers. And also most rice farmers did not get paid the entire amount for the rice, but I am sure through creative accounting, they will claim the full amount and will siphon the difference. That is why they are so short on money.

Personally the PM and all people involve with this policy needs to be punish and jailed.

Actually thats is not necessary for thai gov to issue new bonds. Thailand is on of the major US treasury bonds holders. 50 billion USD in bonds, means low rate loan for US administration to pay US farm bills instead of thai farmers subsidy.

But, eh, mm, ok. Uncle Sam and IMF might be angry as it is they need these monie more then Thailand do.
