Family Hotel Hua Hin

We always stay at the Subhamitra Hotel, up on the main road, about 4-5 blocks from the beach, swimming pool, fan rooms around 300 Baht, a/c around 600 baht. cable tv (not the ubiquitous UBC but something out of malaysia). Old-fashioned, basic Thai hotel with a big parking lot out front. Nothing fancy, but clean and friendly. We like it for the parking lot as we always drive to Hua Hin and it is a walled secure parking lot with a guard.

Hi,

Does anyone have any contact info for these hotels? or any other recommendations for a clean friendly well priced hotel that can cater for a triple and double room? We are thinking of coming to Hua hin for the holiday at the end of the month. Any info on places to stay would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

John.

In April i stayed in a hotel on the Thai Military camp and it was fantastic , i cant remember the name of the hotel but someone else from Hua Hin will know it . On the base there were Thai style houses and the Hotel we stayed at the Hotel .I have stayed at many hotels in Hua Hin and if i was to go back tomorrow i would book into the Military camp hotel and its a fraction of the price of other Hua Hin Hotels .

Big Rooms , Very Clean , Great food , and right in the beach :o .

I take it that the hotel in this discussion, at the army base, may be the one about ten or 15 kilometers south of the flyover on the south end of Hua Hin (if you're not going to Kao Takiab, but toward Chumphon) and on the left, where a PTT petrol station marks the entrance to an army camp. There are cabins available if you take a left at the T, but I don't know how you get down to the larger hotel that may be mentioned here. We never noticed a turnoff for it further south on the highway, either, when we were headed for that other beach that remains unmentioned.

If you have wheels, you don't need to settle for downtown Hua Hin beach or Kao Takiab. Go south, young man.

Hotel is open to everyone , you would not know its a Thai millitry base other than when you go through the barrier and it has two soldiers on guard :o , as i said the rooms are big i had triple room , hotel is spotless clean , food is great and at Thai prices , swimming pool was great and had smaller shallow pool for the kids . Gardens were well kept and when we were there big pink flowers in full bloom .

Upside for hotel is it backs straight onto the empty beach , white sand , we got up early every morning my 3 year old son loved collecting washed up shells , You can have room with sea view and the hotel is not exspensive . I was asked if i lived in Thailand and with having 0 visa i got the discount rate which i think was 900 baht a nite .

On the same land as the Hotel there are Thai style houses , they looked nice but when we were there they were full as it was Thai holiday period , it was a great holiday and i am happy we stayed at the hotel on this base .

Other Hotels i have stayed in Hua Hin .

Hilton hated it the hotel is old , rooms are old and swimming pool area full ,loud music and woman doing step at 10 am in the morning not for me would not stay there if it was free .

Evason this place is run down and in the middle of nowhere i would not stay here again of it was free .

Marriott resort , its a nice resort relaxing BUT stayed here 3 times and on 1 trip had very nice room near pool 2nd trip was ok room and 3rd trip they put me in one of the buildings right at the back at the complex on the top floor ( 4th ) no lift and a small child .

Its Thai millitry base in future for me , if anyone stays there please post up let me know how you get on .

Enjoy JB

A-ha, so no lifts anywhere there. I thought it was only in my wing. I specifically request a "garden floor" because of the baby, stroller etc.

I said that in another thread, "Good Hotel".

The 'MILITARY HOTEL' is, as you rightly said, located within the military camp, where the PTT petrol station is on the way south from Hua-Hin, reckon its about 4kms from the 'flyover'going south towards Pranburi.

To get to the 'military hotel' just drive into the base through the check point and continue over the railway line and down to the bottom where you will come to a dual cariageway, turn right and continue up this for about 800metres and you will come to the hotel. Have eaten here quite often and its always very quiet with obliging staff, the place always looks spotlessly clean.

If you want, I can pop in and get the details for you, as I go down to the driving range which is located nearby and within the same complex.

Just pm me and let me know if you still want the info.

Arthurboy, his father and mother would be eternally grateful if someone could provide the telephone No. for the military hotel mentioned above. We plan to go to HH for Songkran, and are looking at various options. This is a very useful thread, so thanks to all who have contributed so far. :o Arthurboy and his shades.
