bangkok shutdown today

Featured Replies

Around town today at several 'shutdown' areas, what a total farce it is. Almost NO demonstrators, just large areas of road way at Siam, Central world and Victory monument taken over by market vendors, that's all, just t shirt and noodle sellers blocking the traffic and making it all very inconvenient for workers. I suppose it's too much to expect the cops to do their job and move these illegal vendors away?

Yes. Rather than provoking a conflict much better to force their hand so they have to publicly admit their campaign fizzled.

Thank you, I could not have done it better. Difficult to describe the stupidity/selfishness of the 'protesters' in so new few words.

You know, they're just going to shut this thread down. You can only talk about politics in the News forum.

I live very close to the Asoke site so I have the misfortune of seeing these idiots every bloody day blowing their whistles while some gimp on stage says the same old shit they've been saying since the Amnesty Bill was canned.

Frankly, much of the site is over run with vendors selling everything from socks to dresses, Viagra to sunglasses. It's like one great big flea market and, I must say, an utter embarrassment for the PDRC.

All the silly little girls have been along, blown their whistles really loud, bought the "Shutdown Bangkok" t-shirt, made their victory signs for their selfies and realised that no one actually had a plan for victory from the beginning.

There is some bargains to be had on the 'shut down Bangkok' t-shirts.. So not all is lost !!

Look at the positive side. It was about time people left their cars home. Put in earplugs to make the idiotic whistles tolerable, and enjoy these areas like you couldn't before. They can continue this for years as far as I'm concerned. wink.png

The guy who takes care of my motor bike has returned and reopened his little tin shed after 3 weeks in Bangkok with his wife helping the Suthep cause I have to surmise that if he and his mrs were getting 500bht a day each plus food and entertainment it was worth his while I am just left puzzled why they have come back 3 days before election maybe the paymasters stopped paying out and feeding them !!!

but "Shutdown Bangkok" sounds better than "make a bit of noise and mess and bankrupt a few hotels in bangkok"
