loong
You are an inspiration Soidog. If I could achieve half the success that you do I would be more than happy Everytime I see one of your posts, it reminds me that it is possible. I have never managed to grow anything apart from the standard chillie peppers. One day, I WILL succeed in growing an edible bell pepper
soidog2
Humble thank you! I did grow some sweet peppers, yes it is possible. My recipe; Partial to full shade Extremely well drained area Before I plant; I use about one sack of composted cow manure per 2 sq meters + generous amount of bone meal + some basic organic pellet fertilizer. Mechanical tiller to about 18" deep until the soil is evenly mixed and well aerated. Seedlings about 4"-6" tall; remove from trays and plant. Spray a light (cypermethrin) insecticide to protect crucial early leaves and also be aware of snails; if not controlled they will decimate your plants. Initial fertilizer should be enough until flowering, than start applying manure & bone meal under the plant canopy every two weeks or so. Guaranteed to have beautiful results. Best regards.
rice555
Hello All, nice looking chilies SD2, always love to see pics. The yellow bells and naga seeds I got at the Korat Ag Show are not wanting to come up. Expect to get a letter this week from TGS with some Congo Trinidads that I've grown here several time with good yields. rice555
ChrisB87
My GF is trying these. How much shade is neccesary? She was planning on growing them out in the sun, like Thai chilli peppers. Will this ruin them? Thanks
soidog2
Seedlings need protection, Mature plants need some afternoon shade otherwise they will burn, they will still producwe but not how you see it pictured.
rice555
Hello All, my chilies only get shading when they are still in the tray, all in the following pic's are US seeds, anchos, anaheims, serranos and Carolina Reapers. The plant pics were at 1:30. The Anahiem Hyb. are out performing the OP. All except the CR's were TP when the were 8"-12" tall, the CR's are in the first pic, R/H side and are 2 mo's younger than the others. rice555 My wife grew some of the serranos in dirt with with drip and got more sun than my hydro driveway plants with the same type of results as I got.
