Giving Advice on everything Thai

When you don't live here.

what do you think about that ?

Nothing

I'd rather hear from someone who's lived here for decades and is temporarily or recently outside the kingdom.

Than someone who thinks they know everything after just a couple of years or even funnier months.

And I'd rather hear from a thoughtful and sincere poster with decent writing skills no matter where they're from, than from those who just mouth off a bunch of gibberish and whacko opinions without any rhyme or reason involved, even if they're born and raised here.

Not disparaging the NES among us who are trying their best to communicate properly.

so, in other words, you don't live in Thailand and you have nothing constructive to say, fair enough.

Opinions are like arse**les, everyones got one, its a public forum, people can say what they want within the rules. Its up to the individual to decide whats worth keeping and what needs ignoring.

Spend any time here on this forum and you soon start to realise who is who and what category they belong.

People may have lived here for years but for whatever reason had to move on, maybe for work etc.

Those that have just had 2 weeks in Phuket or Pattaya are usually quite easily spotted.

Any reasonable person will evaluate the replies overall and can usually dismiss the drivel.

Experience makes you knowledgable not geography.

So you believe everything that is written on an anonymous internet forum ?

I believe he just said the opposite

I remember being told once by a tourist the correct way to order a beer in Thai.

I had raised my index finger and was halfway through the bottle when he got served his bucket of ice...............wink.png

There isn't much that beats local knowledge.................thumbsup.gif

As you said, literacy is important :)

There are things a newbie can give advice about as he is in a position to have experienced current situations which may bear not resemblance to those experienced by people who live in a different circle here and currently experience different things.

Any information about the bar scene or how to handle Pattaya bargirls I can really give as any experience I may or may not have had regarding that was 40 years ago and Thailand was a diferent place then. Same with KohSamui. If you want to talk about empty beaches at the end of long dirt tracks I can but you will find they are not empty now.

But the point is - to continue with the forum's favorite topic - a newbie to the BG scene hasn't been beaten up by experience enough yet to know the real score. Unless he's hung out here and LISTENED to those that have and do.

Only a fool learns from his own mistakes. The wise man learns from the mistakes of others.

Ask Wym, he will give opinions on everything and anything.

Should get out and about and talk to people face to face, not spend all day and night at the keyboard.
