Some fair points… Thailand hasn’t been a “cheap” destination for quite some time, yet the myth stubbornly persists. Combine that with the easy access to cannabis, and it’s no surprise the country draws more than its fair share of drifters and wasters..... many of whom quickly find themselves spiralling into difficult financial situations. That, in turn, creates pressure points, and eventually… something gives. The simplest solution, of course, is to deport them. But that alone isn’t enough. When someone assaults others with a syringe and the only consequence is a free flight home, that’s not justice, it’s a getaway. If the message being received is, “act out and you’ll just be sent packing,” then any real deterrent vanishes. And without consequences, the cycle repeats. I'm not part of the 'hang-em high crowd' and believe any foreigners acting out should face exactly the same consequences as Thai's after found committing the same crimes. -
