Prachuap Khiri Khan: Russian tourist and two year old son die in car crash

Prachuap Khiri Khan:-- A Russian father and his two year old son were killed in Prachuap Khiri Khan on Wednesday morning when the vehicle they were travelling in careered off the road before hitting an electricity pylon.

The fatal accident happened outside the pineapple canning factory on Phetchkasem Road, heading inbound in Moo 6 Village, close to Tambon Ao Noi.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found the wreckage of the car, a black Toyota Avanza and the body of the 34 year old Russian father, who investigators suspect was thrown more than two metres from the vehicle.

Another passenger, a 36 year old woman, believed to be the man’s wife, was found with non-life threatening injuries but the two year old son was in a much more serious condition and was rushed to the nearby Prachuap Khiri Khan hospital where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Despite difficulties in communicating with the 36 year old woman, police said that they understood the family had been travelling from the south of Thailand to Chonburi when the accident happened.

Although police are still investigating the incident, they suspect that the man was driving the vehicle and that fatigue may have caused him to fall asleep at the wheel.

and of course no one was wearing seatbelts, hard way to die for them both, rip.

Sounds like a lot of assumptions are being made as to how it happened. No real scientific investigation, just guesses. Interesting that they do not state the time of the accident.

Toyota Avenza, there is a crappy tin can of a "car" that doesn't offer any protection what

so ever in the event of a serious accident...

The child restraint seat doesn't seem to have worked.

Oh wait. Sorry, they don't use them here do they?

The driving standards in Russia are below even those in Thailand....that by itself explains a lot. Most people buy driving licences from the corrupt officials, nobody bothers to learn how to drive.....the tragic results speak for themselves....fortunately in this tragedy he didn't smash into anybody else...

The road there is in a very , very bad condition , huge and deep potholes , terrible to drive there .

It is the main highway to and from the south .

A major road like this should be kept in a good condition .

Our secondary roads are great tho .

"and of course no one was wearing seatbelts,"

Where did it say that?

A lot of assumptions? What you meant to say, I'm sure, was that the report did not say that the police were making any assumptions at all. They suspected the driver may have fallen asleep, that was all that was reported, so no guesses.

You assert that there is "no real scientific investigation", how do you know this, are you privy to the police investigation, they send you reports?

Why is the lack of information about the time of the accident so interesting?

Apart from crumple zones, pre-tensioner seat belts and airbags you mean?

Crappy post.

I'm sad to say, but in accident by toyota avanza it is all the same the safety belt was used or wasn't. Those car OK for Bangkok city traffic up to 60 km/h, like many other small cars with out any protection for driver and passangers.

Ah, Mr. Nit Picker; picking nits, again. Generally, people wearing seat belts don't get thrown from the vehicle. duh!
