tkramer Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I am looking for a 'farang' Sports Medicine either Chiropractic Specialist, or Osteopathic Specialist, or M.D. sports specialist, for my daughter who is an avid dancer and has been sporting a very discomforting situation since New Years. She thought it would heal and go away on it's own, but the problem still lingers and is impairing some of her dancing ability. Preferably in the Sukhumvit area. Over the years I have been told about several different guys, but never paid any mind as I had no need. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Sheryl Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 There are a number of excellent sports medicine docs here, mostly at Bumrungrad but would help to know the affected body part as they tend to sub-specialize i.e. shoulder/knee/etc
tkramer Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 Hi Sheryl, Thanks for your reply. My daughter says that she thinks that it is a tendon covering the left butt bone. She is a 9 year ballet student, and has just past an audition for the Royal Ballet Summer Intesive program, and she is worried that it will hinder her performance while in England. She has had accupuncture, and Thai massage both several times, with no relief.
thepool Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 The "butt bone" ?? Does that mean buttock ( backside or bum) or something else ?
tkramer Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 We think either the Obturator Internis or the ST Ligament
thepool Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) Look here http://www.bumrungrad.com/en/search-for-a-thailand-doctor Specify "sports medicine" and then search Edited April 29, 2014 by thepool
Sheryl Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 As it sounds like a soft tissue injury I would suggest this doctor http://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Mason-Porramatikul I only just noticed that you specified a farang doctor. He is not farang (very, very few farand MDs licensed to practice in Thailand) but he is US trained (Harvard) and very, very good.
tkramer Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 Thanks pool and Sheryl. Dr. Mason does indeed look very good. What other Hospitals does he work at? Because maybe we can get a 'less expensive' fee at another hospital.
macleans Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 If you don't mind traveling out of Bangkok a bit to nonthaburi, Dr. Mason's avaliable at nonthavej hospital on Monday from 17.00 to 20.00. http://www.nonthavej.co.th/Appoint/Default_en.aspx In my opinion, it would be worth traveling only if your daughter needs to see him on a regular basis or if she needs surgery. At this hospital, you can also find Dr. Pinij Srisuwanporn, a sports medicine doc, who looks after some of Thailand's national soccer players. Dr. Pinij is a committee member of Thai Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He's also available at both Bangkok international hospital and Phyathai 2 hospital. Education- M.D. Chiangmai UniversityCertification- Board of Orthopaedic Surgery Lerdsin Hospital, Department of medical services, Ministry of Public Health- Fellowship in Sport Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery (Knee and Shoulder), Arthroplasty , UCLA, School of Medicine, Los Angelis, California, USA.- Fellowship in Spine Surgery, UCLA Medical Center, USA
