Need help to identify car model (homemade?)

I just have seen a car for the first time. It looked very strange, I would like to find out more about it. Pictures have been shot while driving, so please don't complain about the quality.

to me it looks like an homage to the Corbusier/2CV/Tatra Beetle designs.......the badge is too small to read, could it be a Japanese model?

Thanks, Sherlock. I tried googling the pictures by upload on images.google.com, but got no results. The car was "shot" in Pak Chong, it was in perfect condition as far as I could see under the conditions. Must be a real car lover, the owner. Thanks again for the hint!

2000 to 2001? Must have been a popular model! It looks like the back of a Renault maybe it got confused too much.
