Natural well cleaning?

Hi all. I have just moved in to a new house, and it has what I would call a natural well, that is,a number of concrete rings going in to the ground about 10 metres maybe.

At the bottom is soft, which I would say is sand .

My Thai wife says the water smells, and we should get someone in to clean it.

Is this possible

Even in the US, if it's just microorganisms and not a build up of silt, the well is chlorinated with regular household bleach.

You would need to make your own estimate of how much water you think you have in the well, pipes and household items and do your own math for chlorine amount. It doesn't hurt to use more, but it takes longer to flush. It doesn't take much bleach.

I would pour the bleach into the well and let it sit for a couple of hours. Then I would turn on every possible water using appliance, every faucet and so on until I smelled bleach. Then I would shut everything off for a couple of hours. Then I would turn everything back on and let it run until I no longer smelled chlorine.
