OVEC seeks measures to end vocational school rivals’ disputes

BANGKOK, 27 June 2014 (NNT) – Representatives of the Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) and the Office of Private Education Commission (OPEC) held a meeting with vocational school headmasters, to seek approaches to prevent violence among rival schools under the supervision of the OVEC and OPEC, in line with the policies of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)

The meeting, presided over by Mr. Pradit Rasitanont, Deputy OVEC Secretary General, proposed to rearrange the education zones to allow better and thorough supervision of all vocational schools.

The meeting also advised that relevant schools appoint a team to monitor students’ movement and coordinate preventive measures against tentatively violent gatherings, through the use of social media.

The Deputy Secretary General requested various vocational schools to submit a list of influential figures or ring leaders among violent students, to the commission by next Wednesday.

The list will be submitted to the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) which will help provide a close watch on these individuals, and draw up preemptive measures to prevent violent confrontations between rival groups.

This issue has needed to be addressed for a very long time.

Good luck to all with it.

For starters, how about anyone identified as being involved in any agressive or violent attacks be expelled immediately and then bared for life from attending another school. Additionally, anyone caught with weapons of any kind be immediately arrested and sentenced to 5 years in jail (minimum), no appeals, no early release and no bail. Also fine the families of the individual a very very hefty sum.

Harsh I know, but you got to do something to get their attention, or it will never stop. Once the first group got expelled, barred and thrown in the slammer, I think it would come a screeching halt pretty quickly.

All the little darling Mummy's boys have far too much spare time on their hands. I am not sure how many and attend school and for how many hours, because there is always many of them at internet gaming shops and entertainment areas in shopping centres during school hours.

Mandatory conscription & with minimum 5 years service for any of this thugs.

Not letting alumni involved in such cases on campus grounds or anywhere near it.

Kicking off any teacher advocating violent rivalry.

Barring people for life from getting a vocation is not a good idea, long term.

They would just be marginalized further and stand a good chance to be involved

in similar activities elsewhere.

Perhaps a spell at the army or a monastery isn't a bad idea.

You forgot to cane them.

that idea has merit. It would need some firm lines and be firmly enforced. Also send them to the Southern provinces after boot camp. That would give them a reason to think twice before getting involved.

Do these schools not have intra school sports such as in North America. Football, Baseball and track and field to name a few?
