And let's not forget occupying a foreign land and building prison type walls to circle its inhabitants. Are you seriously suggesting that this is something done by Israeli authorities? For one thing, details are still unclear, and second - police already on the scene. The so called wall, is in many parts a fence, and does not encircle the West Bank. Palestinian access to Israel is limited, yes, but that goes way before the barrier. The barrier itself does not imprison, so much as keeps Israeli and Palestinians apart.
abrahamzvi
I consider ALL acts of terror against innocent civilians as criminal acts. I criticise and sharply condemn the kidnapping and murdering of the three Israeli teenagers. However, shouldn't the Israeli authorities also be criticised and condemned for shooting innocent Palestinian youth? Further, I am wondering if the Israeli PM will condemn in the same sharp form this kidnapping and murder of a teenager, a Palestinian one, as President Abbas did in the case of the Israeli kidnapped teenagers?? As far as the so called separation wall is concerned, may I refer you to the recent Pope's visit to Israel/Palestine. This was brought about after the Hebron massacre of 1994. That said, there are streets and even a town in Israel named after Avraham Stern, who ,at least in some view, is considered a terrorist. In general, though, you are correct. While there are some in Israel that would these action, this is nowhere near the level killers get embraced by the Palestinian public when their action are deemed as anti-Israeli. I really do Not condone any acts of terror, but allow me to say that the way the Israelis treat the Palestinians, they are providing very fertile ground for terrorists! Israel's current government is made out of a few parties. Some right wing, some more moderate. Ministers spew statements according to whatever panders to their voters attitudes. Agree that these statements advocating revenge and retaliation do nothing to promote calm, and indeed, do harm in stoking up the fires. That said, these statements do not necessarily represent an Israeli general sentiment or government position, nor do they directly call for murder and kidnapping (it was pretty clear the meaning of most politicians was to do with a possible military strike against the Hamas). As for the OP, you'll find that statements made differ from what you claim: The family of slain Israeli teenager Naftali Fraenkel said on Wednesday that it would be "horrifying and despicable" if the Arab youth was killed due to nationalistic motives to avenge the murders of their son and two other teens who were buried Tuesday. "There is no difference between blood and blood, murder is murder," read the statement from the bereaved family, who condemned murder in any form. In a statement issued by the Jerusalem Municipality Wednesday morning, Mayor Nir Barkat condemned the "horrible and barbaric" murder. "This is not our way and I am fully confident that our security forces will bring the perpetrators to justice. I call on everyone to exercise restraint," Barkat said. Construction and Housing Minister Uri Ariel also came out harshly against the killing of the youth. "The murder of a young man and burning his body is a disgusting act. I hope police use all means to find the murderers as quickly as possibly and to bring them to justice," he said. http://www.jpost.com/National-News/Body-of-Arab-youth-found-in-Jerusalem-forest-361231 There were other, similar statements. I do not think a single Israeli minister or politician of note praised this murder. I agree that Israel's treatment of the Palestinians does not promote the chances for achieving a peaceful resolution of the conflict. At the same time, it is not exactly as if the Palestinian are angels. Both sides got their baggage of bad actions, decisions and whatnot. As I said in another topic - bickering over who started it, who's more to blame, who did what to whom...all very interesting, certainly very "alive" and painful to some people - but ain't going to get this mess solved.

This concept is sometimes called APARTHEID. Oh dear.... The Palestinians, the Palestinian Authority, Gaza, the Hamas and areas obviously controlled by them are not currently a part of Israel, and are not likely to be in most reasonable solutions. Most of the Israeli public tacitly accepts this one way or the other. The barrier, separation wall (whatever people want to call it) - does not divide between citizens of the same country. Thinking about it as a temporary border is more accurate. Apartheid would require Israel to surround about 20% of its own population (Israeli Arabs) and restrict their movement, curtail their rights etc. The fact that there are a few million Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza living in limbo as far as their political and national definition is concerned, is to be abhorred. Israel most certainly got a large part in the creation and continuation of this sorry state of affairs. Apartheid, however, is probably not the term which describes it. You ask so what well I for one find it significant that Iran has a history of treating its Jewish minority fairly well. The Jewish community in Iran is believed to number around 25,000, after two major waves of emigration following Israel's founding in 1948 and the Islamic Revolution in 1979, which is not an insignificant number.
