toooa
A man's gold is his own private kingdom. Despite all the fighting over the spoils of carrion, the greedy picking of flesh, common decency in a sane world would dictate that none of this is the domain of big brother. But of course might is always right, and greed and entitlement loves to cloak itself in "the law". Doesn't make it right though. Contemptible. penwithcris
India's total gold holdings = 144 kilograms Was the guy on his way to the World Weightlifting Championships? By 'acting suspiciously' did the Customs Officers see him dragging a heavy sack around the Departure Terminal with the word 'SWAG' written on it? How eagle eyed of them

How eagle eyed of them I am not quite sure what you mean by "India's total gold holdings = 144 kilograms" India's gold reserves as of December 2013 were approx 557.7 tonnes. The Korean man was carrying 12 x 1 kg gold bars thus 12 kilos. NOT 12 x 12kg bullion ingots A South Korean man was arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport for trying to smuggle 12 gold bars worth Bt16 million, out of the country. The Nation. denby45
This is ridiculous. Why would anyone buy so much gold in Thailand. Abu Dhabi or Dubai are the places to buy gold bars. And there is no problem getting on a flight to Korea with it. Den
falang07
Since it is impossible to wire money out of Thailand that you have not before wired in, it is clear why he wanted to "export" these gold bars. Remember to keep those foreign exchange forms if remitting bigger amounts to Thailand and expect to take it out of Thailand in the future otherwise smuggling gold will be your only option, too. Actually precious stones are a much better option. But you gotta know how to evaluate stones or have a completely trustworthy seller. which most, if not all, do not have
