Motorbike theft rings busted by security forces in northeastern Thailand

KALASIN, 3 July 2014 (NNT) - Police and soldiers have joined forces to eradicate a criminal network responsible for stealing motorcycles. Together, they have found a large warehouse for demolishing stolen motorbikes in Kalasin province and have confiscated over 1,500 of them.

The raid took place in Nong Paen Subdistrict, Kamalasai District, Kalasin Province. Police have received a tip-off that the building served as a front for selling used items. However, it was actually a place where stolen bikes would be dismantled and later sold as component parts.

Over 1,500 old and new bikes have been confiscated in this operation. The officers have also found that the owner of this place didn’t keep any record on where the bikes were purchased, which was in violation of the law.

In a separate case in Uttaradit Province, police officers and volunteer guards have deployed their forces to raid a two-story building named the “Pad Man Car and Coffee Shop” and an empty space just behind the Jungle Pub and Restaurant, where they found a number of stolen vehicles. During their raid, they have confiscated a total of 75 motorbikes, 25 automobiles, and 10 ten-wheeler trucks that were valued at around 10 million baht.

Two years ago my wife's Honda Click was stolen and we are just 90km from Kalasin.

A local police asked for contribution to find the bike and I gladly declined and told him I have insurance for theft. I did called a family member who is a police pilot for government officials in Bangkok and they did set up road blocks etc, hwoever two to three days later this police in civil came and asked for contribution.

1500 bikes x average 25,000 is over 37 million Baht. This certainly is well organized and the cops have a deal in that as they control the road blocks of what goes in and out of their area.

Because the Police cant do it by themselves?

The Military has really bitch slapped the Police and shown them what the job entails, which is more than harrassing tourists and assisting the underworld.

Its refreshing smile.png

1.500 motorbikes found...They aint showing the police how it's done, they are stopping the operations of criminals that are almost certainly known to the police who are receiving a nice slice of the cake for themselves to look the other way and protect the villains.

Nobody can convince me that any gang are able to steal 1,500 vehicles and get away with every one without being caught.

Like I said in another thread.... I bet we NEVER read a story about police being arrested for involvement with criminal activities, so they will almost certainly remain corrupt.

This will be the Junta's biggest failing to Thailand.
