Thai-Myanmar regional border committee meeting ends with a success, both sides have differences settled

The 23rd meeting of the Thai-Myanmar Regional Border Committee (RBC) in Chiang Mai has been declared a success as both countries can settle their differences.

Third Army commander Saprang Kalayanamit (สะพรั่ง กัลยาณมิตร) said the meeting helped build good relations between the militaries of the two countries and clear out their misunderstandings.

Lt. Gen. Saprang said both sides agreed to forget the past and start anew. Troops will no longer confront with each other but cooperate with each other in creating peace in border areas, he said.

The commander said Thailand and Myanmar also discussed ways to solve drug and illegal alien problems.

The 24th meeting of RBC will be held in Myanmar but the date has not yet been scheduled, he added.
