Has anyone recently tried to get a Non Immgrant O visa to stay with their wife from the Embassy in Phnom Penh?

I was just looking at their website and they had a note that they would process labour visas in a day and it got me wondering if there has been a recent shakeup or not? I realise that the labour visa is an attempt to mitigate the problems with the mass exodus of cheap khmer labour that recently fled the Land of Smiles but is there any chance the embassies have been ordered to make things more friendly towards people applying for other visas in the region?

I am planning to pop over to the Penh next week and thought it might be a good time to apply for the Non O whilst I am there. Has anyone given it a crack in the last few weeks and if so, did you have any success. I had a Khmer friend call in today and this is what he said.

Anyhow, I went over to the Thai embassy and found information about your visa with the following requirements:

. Married certificate

. Your child’s birth letter

. Copy of your wife’s ID card

. Copy of family book

. Photo 4 X 6 = 2

Note: This non immigrant visa O lasts for 3 months—after that you can have it extended in Thailand, fee is 80$ and it takes around 3 days to get it.

Anyone got anything else?

You would only be able to get a single entry non-o there. Not sure what they require. I have not seen any recent report of getting one there.

But it may take up to 4 days to get it unless you use an agent, You can get it the next day if you pay an agent enough.

Thanks for you input. OK, I think I will give it a shot. I believe once you have a single entry you can get it altered here in Bangkok according to the embassy staff there.

Will let people know how it goes.

Once you have the single entry non-o you will be able to apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage during the last 30 days of your 90 day entry at immigration if you can meet the financial requirements.
