webfact
Watch: Two women escape death by diving under trainSource: InternetBLOOMINGTON, Indiana — Dramatic surveillance video shows two women running for their lives on a railroad bridge, then dropping down on the tracks just before the train runs them over. Amazingly, both women survived."When the trains topped, the two women crawled out from under the engine, started running this way," Eric Powell, with Indiana Railroad, said. “(The conductor) yelled back and asked them, 'Are you okay?' One yelled she had stubbed her toe, (but was) otherwise fine. I'm sure their nerves were as shattered as his were." (WTHR.com)Watching the video, It’s hard to believe that a stubbed toe was the worst of their physical injuries. The incident happened earlier this month on the Indiana Railroad bridge northeast of Bloomington at Lake Lemon. The bridge is 80 feet high. There are no walkways because pedestrians are not allowed. The 100-car coal train braked hard, Powell said, but was across the bridge before it was able to stop.Indiana Railroad plans to prosecute the two women for criminal trespass to send a message to others.Source: http://www.mypalmbeachpost.com/news/news/national/watch-two-women-escape-death-diving-under-train/ngqhr/-- The Palm Beach Post 2014-07-30 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvpnqT1wtvM

timmyp
Wow, they really cashed in their karma chips on that one. I hope they still have some left over for when the trespassing lawsuit gets underway.
Nuddy
So there must be space enough to lay down on the track with the engine and train running above you? Thats quite amazing really. I wonder what they were doing on the rail bridge anyhow? Fishing maybe or just crossing the river? Life goes on.

slipperylobster
Well, now I know what to do the next time I get caught with my pants down on the railroad bridge. Just make sure you hit the deck parallel to the train tracks, and not perpendicular. Edited July 30, 2014 by slipperylobster
slipperylobster
I think what they were doing was looking for "brains". They thought they heard somebody say, "y'all be watchful of them brains they got up on that thar bridge." It's that accent, made trains sound like brains....which were what they actually were looking for.

kamahele
No doubt the girls walked right past the "danger" and "no trespassing" signs before getting on the bridge. They were extremely lucky.
