How is it low season?

Featured Replies

Probably a bit of a daft question, I know it is the low season at the moment in Thailand yet in the UK it is the summer holidays, most schools are finished and everyone is off on holiday. I also noticed flights seem to have gone up a bit, why is it the low season in Thailand, I would have thought this time of year for Europe etc is the right time to come to Thailand? also if it was the low season why are flights so expensive compared to a few months back?

Excuse the dumb questions just been puzzling me.

All flight companies put their prices up on western school holidays.

if you havent noticed its a bit rainy atm.

I see, I kinda get that, but surely Europe being on the summer holidays would make Thailand more busy with tourists? Why is it the low season here?

Because of the RAIN, its rainy season. People generally travel for the sun not the rain.

If the weather is already nice in whatever country you happen to reside in, then the demand to leave for a "tropical vacation" diminishes.  Three months into a five month winter a trip to Thailand looks very attractive.  That, and the fact that it is "rainy season" in Thailand carries negative connotations, despite the fact that its the favorite time of year for many expats and others who know Thailand well.

It is not the low season right now. August is always a mini high season. Slows down again second week of September. August is busy. Many Europeans come here during this month. Let is see if there are as many as usual. I doubt that will be the case.
