Purple Line stretching northwest ahead of schedule

BANGKOK: -- While bigger transportation projects languish in uncertainty, Bangkok's network of blended rail systems continues to grow.

Construction is 90 percent finished on the rail extension from the Tao Poon junction ​near the MRT blue line's terminal station at Bang Sue to Khlong Bang Phai in Nakhon Pathom province.

The Purple Line's train system itself is about one-quarter complete, but the Mass Rapid Transit Authority expects to field trial runs in late 2015 with the line opening several months ahead of schedule in mid-2016, authority Gov. Yongsit Rojsrikul said Monday.

Sixteen stations will comprise the northwestern line, which will stretch 23 kilometers.

Later a 20-kilometer extension will connect Tao Poon to the Phra Pradaeng district in Samut Prakan province. [read more...]

Purple Line operational in mid-2016

BANGKOK: -- The Mass Rapid Transport Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has confirmed that the Purple Line electric train line (Bang Yai-Tao Poon) will be fully operational in mid-2016.

In a statement, Yongsit Rojsrikul, governor of the state agency, said that there has been progress with the construction and electrical system. Parts of the preparation process should be completed ahead of schedules.

"A recent visit to Japan convinced us that we can start the trial run at the end of 2015, for full operations in mid-2016," he said.

Marubeni-Toshiba Joint Venture wins the contract to supply train carriages and complete the service centre.

Ahead of schedule?????   At the art museum opposite MBK at national stadium bts there is/was 2 maps of train systems titled "before corruption"  and "after corruption"  ahead of the revised schedule??

I live near there and if they would give some parts of the road back instead of using it as storage it would solve a lot of traffic problems. Other parts of the line have their road back but not yet where it counts. 

Here we are in August of 2014, and the are flashing dates out to 2016 mid 2016. That will probably end up late 2016 or 2017. The Thais are flashing futures news. I guess they have nothing to talk about with regard to what the new reform of law and order means for everyone and they have built in so many accountability avoidances that no one knows a thing about how to explain their country's rules and laws. Buy they do know this purple line schedule for "mid 2016."
