Domestic spending to rise over 23 billion baht in coming long holidays

BANGKOK: -- National Mother’s Day celebration and Chinese hungry ghost festival will boost people's spending up to over 23 billion baht during the four-day period beginning today, according to the forecast of the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC).

The UTCC’s Centre for Economic and Business Forecasting (CEBF) said a survey on the domestic spending during this year’s 4-day long weekend National Mother’s Day holidays, starting this weekend, reported that more than 19.4 billion bah cash would be in circulation which is an increase of 6.8 percent comparing to the figure of last year.

At the same time, the Chinese hungry ghost festival, which falls on August 10 this year, will also see an income of around 3 billion baht, an increase of 7.6 percent from the prior year.

Total spending of the two festivals combined will reach over 23 billion baht for the year, it forecast.

Meanwhile the center also said the domestic consumer confidence index in the month of July has shown signs of further improvement and is the highest figure in 11 months.

Also the happiness index for last month is the highest in 13 months, as the public believes that National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s plan to invest 2.4 trillion baht on infrastructure development and the raise of civil servants’ salary are expected to stimulate the national economy to grow by over 2 percent for the year.

I wonder if the guy that came up with these numbers could give me the next lotto numbers

Wow,  well let's not underestimate anything.

At the same time, the Chinese hungry ghost festival, which falls on August 10 this year, will also see an income of around 3 billion baht, an increase of 7.6 percent from the prior year.

How in the world can they forecast this increase unless they are going by last year and know the price of fake money they'll be burning has gone up 7.6%

and what of the happiness index...

Was the poll question "Please rate your happiness index from last month based on the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s plan to invest 2.4 trillion baht on infrastructure development and the raise of civil servants’ salary are expected to stimulate the national economy to grow by over 2 percent for the year."

How else could the attribute this to one specific long winded thing as opposed to the person being polled having just got laid.

Maybe the happiness index survey was conducted on Soi Cowboy

Isn't the issue whether it is 23bn more than last year?

how much will be borrowed from loan sharks ?

They wont be able to spend the money fast enough, so watch the roads death figures rocket over the next few days

I believe this spending forecast will exactly match the forecasts developed by the major alcoholic beverage distributors in Thailand (also will have a huge impact on the HAPPINESS burp.gif  index)!
