Ok guys, not logged on in a while,

I got married in March in Thailand and we applied for Sv begining of June supplied all supporting evidence at the time of application, a few days later my wife returned to be given an interview date for 31st July.

I was extremely happy with all the evidence provided, it amounted to a 3" thick ring binder folder.

The guy behind the counter asked the wife how many applications it contained. :o

The embassy has not requested any further documentation.

When ever I log onto this Forum and read the posts I always feel my stomach tightening.

It seems that according to our learned friends, the impessive Scouser and GU22, that the embassy are now trying to decide on applications on supporting evidence alone and hope to have a descision within 7 days.

Have I got my lines crossed and that this is now for Vv or do I understand correctly that this is for Sv's?

If so, does anyone know of anyone getting a Sv within 7 days?

Anybody recently applied for a visa and got an interview date?

I can understand couples who have been living together in Thailand for some time, being granted visa's quickly but I imagine the vast majority of Sv applications are made by couples living apart and visiting as frequently as possible, such as us.

Is paranoia just setting in?

Help anyone?

Cheers

Andy

Hi i'm not too sure about getting a sv in 7 days on evidence alone, but it is possible to be granted a sv if they are happy with all the supporting evidence. In my case they contacted my wife about 2 weeks before her interview date, asked her a couple of questions, and then told her she could collect her visa.

Good luck to you both, we will keep our fingers crossed for you. :o:D

That's really good to hear, when did your wife get her visa? Recently?

See this post on 5th July.
we were given a settlement visa in 7 days, no interview needed!
I obviously don't know why they have decided to interview your wife. It's probably that there is simply one or two points that they want clarified.

If you supply all the necessary documentary evidence with the application and if that evidence satisfies the ECO that the criteria are met, then you wont be interviewed and the visa will be issued.

If the documents are not enough to fully satisfy the ECO that the criteria are met so that s/he has some doubts or questions, but not enough to refuse, then you will be interviewed.

Being interviewed is not a disaster, only an inconvenience. As long as her answers are consistent with the documents she will be ok.

Whilst I am an advocate of supplying too much evidence rather than too little, it's important to remember that quality is more important than quantity.

What is encouraging is that you applied in June and were given an interview date of 31st July. This is certainly an improvement over the lengthy waits of the past.

Yes GU22, that was the post and link that made me post!

I can understand them getting a Sv in 7 days, he lived, worked and got married in Thailand, they are an established couple who are relocating to the UK, that's exactly as it should be, remember BangbuatongBen?

However I think the more usual scenario is similar to mine, ie. Husband in UK wife in Thailand.

I was satisfied with the interview date and they have not asked for any more information, and I can understand them wanting to interview.

I too was refused a Vv for lack of evidence, so I made sure this application was belt and braced.

There is alot of contact evidence, but it is subdivided on a month by month basis.

I was hoping for feedback from/about people in a similar situation that have applied for an Sv recently, just like Rockwellrob's.

Its ok for the embassy to 'say' they are trying to sort applications within 7 days but how is it working out?

GU22 "Whilst I am an advocate of supplying too much evidence rather than too little, it's important to remember that quality is more important than quantity."

Can you give me a couple of examples of evidence that would not be classed as 'quality'.

I think the whole process could be made clearer by establishing more criteria for an application.

All advice is welcome :o

Andy,

I think the key point in establishing why your wife has been invited for interview, is that she's previously been refused a visa. Generally speaking, people who fall into this category will be interviewed, irrespective of the documentation supplied. There are exceptions to this, but, this is the most likely reason.

Thanks, Scouse (don't you have a day job?).

That's fine, we expected an interview anyway, like alot of these things it would be nice if Uk visas provided more information or a more in depth QA section to there website. Knowing that you are almost certain to require an interview if you have have had a visa refused would not make a difference to the outcome, but it would be good to know that in advance. While I don't regret it I did put alot of time and effort into preparing the application in the hope that we/she would not need an interview, nevermind.

Very very pleased your business is up and running, I hope you all the success you deserve.
