daoyai
Maybe the BKK forum will give better advice, since you are near the embassy.

Thighlander
Not always feasible, but I got a brand new knob/lock/4 keys for 109 thb at BB. Took about 10 minutes to install. But, since you think the Embassy is in Chiang Mai; are you sure your at the right house? Edited August 19, 2014 by Thighlander
Dante99
You do not need keys for those 109 baht lock sets. They can be opened by a 10 year old with a bent paper clip in a few seconds.

We put a Hafele (German brand) lock on one of the properties and even at 720 Bath it's not that good quality.
Langsuan Man
My Thai Visa Warrior guess is that the OP is in Chang Mai and is erroneously referring to the Chang Mai Consulate as the US Embassy

There are international standards for locks, it's on the package, just like the Kwikset and Schlages.........not rocket science. They have about 12 brands at Baan and Beyond, complete with the reps trying to steer you to the more expensive ones. Some like to do things the hard way.
