Junta’s legal affairs chief assures no amnesty for Thaksin in mind



BANGKOK: -- The chief for legal affairs of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Gen Phaibul Kumchaya says he never told the news media that the NCPO was contemplating a legislation to grant amnesty for the fugitive premier.

He insisted that the NCPO never has such idea of amnesty.

The legal chief who is also assistant army commander-in-chief said he believed that news report about the amnesty was spread by rumour monger with intent to tarnish the image and the reputation of the NCPO.

Enough of the amnesty, it's starting to look like you are all trying to convince yourselves that it is a good idea, well it ain't, you are completing an investigation into a wealthy business man o/s that supported the buying of arms for the Red shirts to destabilize Thailand, lets see who that is, lets see Thailand issue criminal charges , lets see Thailand prosecute in absentia, lets see Thailand cancel this persons Passport, Amnesty indeed, now I certainly rest my case.

I am still convinced that general Prayuth is a man of high morals with ethical values. I would be very surprised if a pact is made with the devil.

May not be amnesty but not at all surprised if many deals have been done or in the pipeline.

Said it before and I'll say it again. No amnesties. He's a criminal and should go to gaol.

That assumes incorrectly that Thaksin and only Thaksin can win the rural vote. Some democracy that is.

This is a crazy argument as an amnesty to supposedly win over the local vote would then allow Mr T to return and take back the rural vote from the junta. Some logic that is. The junta is certainly not that stupid.

A sure lose-lose outcome.

As they say there is no smoke without fire. If this were to happen it would truly be yet another beginning of the end for this country

Isn't it marvelous to come out with these words, anti army rhetoric. to put it blunt there are this splinter group on TVF that also are in denial.

Something similar on another thread, is it a habit ??? please have a more open view----you accuse me of having rose coloured army glasses on-------NO I am trying to be optimistic.

"the rural vote" being those who live mainly in the North-East or North-West, and excluding those rice-farmers who remember how well his rice-scheme worked out ?

But there are plenty more rural poor, in other parts of the country, and not everyone in Chiang Mai is a Thaksinite-supporter, by a long way.

So amnesty then?

I can say without fear of contradiction that I, as Chairman of the Board, despite the result today, at this present moment, have full confidence in our manager. HHHHMMMMMM
