Bringing beauty products from Thailand to Australia

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I bought some beauty products for myself and my friends in Bangkok. I tried shipping at the Bangkok Post office but they wouldn't allow it. I'm also wondering if I'm going to run into trouble at the airport as well.

I'm not talking about commercial quantities. I'm talking like half a dozen containers of body wash and gels for my girlfriends.

Can someone give me some pointers on successfully bringing these back home?

Thanks so much in advance. You guys were so helpful when I was nervous about coming here for the first time. :)

When you fill out that customs declaration - declare it . Then the customs officer decides. I have had some stuff confisicated - no penalty. The luck of the game. But usually beauty stuff , most foods and medications ( but use your brains for this one) allowed in, but i repeat , always declare.

The issue with not being able to mail the items was because they are liquids and gels, not because they are beauty products. You shouldn't have any issues at the airport taking these back in your checked baggage.

When you are back in Australia you can check out zakkatai.com if you need more beauty items sent there.

You don't need to declare non-commercial quantities.

Simply include them in the BIG bag which goes in the Plane ... not in the carry on luggage.

100% not a problem.

It boils down to ... a small amount would be 'personal use' ... so Customs is not interested.

If it's not 'cabin luggage' then it means you can't make a bomb.

A smallish amount in the big bag in the Aeroplanes belly is not a problem.

My Thai partner and I have bought many things same as you ask into Australia ... never a problem.

Thanks David48, yes that's basically the issue and I did as you said when I came back a few days ago. It's the pesky 100ML quantity restriction. It cost me money (checked baggage, buying another piece of luggage) but in the end I got there.
