JaiLai
Looking at visiting CM later next week for 3 days, looking for some hotel recommendations, price range 2-3k. Will be driving up from central Thailand with own transport. Also looking for info on what to see / do this time of year. I understand all this info is available online but always better to hear first hand, good or bad. Thanks for any input.
DaamNaam
Tripadvisor might be a better bet. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g293917-Chiang_Mai-Hotels.html Most folks here on Thai Visa are expats that live here, no need for hotels. Good luck. Edited August 23, 2014 by DaamNaam
JaiLai
Hence if they live in CM surely they will have better advice than tourists on a short stay holiday...... Or am I missing something here?
jij
Hence if they live in CM surely they will have better advice than tourists on a short stay holiday...... Or am I missing something here? i have friends coming in a few weeks for a few days and i've suggested "the M hotel". i do not highly recommend it, but it is at ground zero for tourists who want to walk out the door and be within walking distance to most tourist things. http://www.agoda.com/hotel-m-chiang-mai/hotel/chiang-mai-th.html?type=1&site_id=1646620&url=http://www.agoda.com/hotel-m-chiang-mai/hotel/chiang-mai-th.html&tag=54e9ee57-76ea-4a4a-bd96-7a2746dffd6e&device=c&network=g&adid=47669042307&rand=8732111583689614848&expid=&adpos=1t1&gclid=CNLNgcjJqMACFQoojgodu5QALg&cklg=

jobin
I doubt any hotel in CM offers better value than the Green Palace, next to the World Museum of Incest.
eyecatcher
I doubt any hotel in CM offers better value than the Green Palace, next to the World Museum of Incest. Get real the GP is a dump and now geared only for Thai and Chinese.I went to check it out for the wifes friend and then recommended she spend an extra 100bt to stay at the Dome, or the Victoria hotel or the white guest house behind the GP. But hey we all judge acceptable standards differently, but if you were a friend of mine I would be embarrassed to recommend it.
Thighlander
www.b2hotel.com several locations. I also stayed here last year...agoda says 7.4/10 near Arcade; http://www.agoda.com/7-days-hotel/hotel/chiang-mai-th.html all, well under 1000 thb per night. If you must be in the land of circus pants; the above rec on "M Hotel" is spot on. Edited August 23, 2014 by Thighlander
