I suppose you are right I should have thought before posting. But it is getting me more and more angry to see all these farang people coming here, living here and creating problems. The biggest problem is the bar/gogo scene which is ruining our country – and has been for a long time. If the demand was not there we would not have the problem.

I do not have a problem with the professionals coming over with the multinationals, but I do have a problem with the men (I am female) coming over here, hooking up with a bar girl and staying for long term – often without money, work or anything. It then turns into a problem as they need money and often turn to crime and scams.

I have traveled overseas a bit (USA, Europe, Australia) but I go for holiday and come back home.

Furthermore, there is a big difference with Thailand and America as America is built on immigration where are not.

Well rest assured that there are a lot of falangs living in or visiting Thialand who are relatively decent people and hate anything that damages Thailand just as much as you do. Whilst you are right that if there was no market these things wouldn't happen they also wouldn't happen if a percentage of Thai people weren't prepared to service the market. Maybe everyone needs to clean up their act. However the problem with trying to enforce standards on people is that you end up with an over-legislated country - which is exactly the problem being experienced in the west today. The same pieces of legislation that keep con men under control in the west create other limitations on lifestyle choices - and it is the absence of these controls which are one of the appealing things about Thailand, even for people who do not have immoral designs.

This is all getting a little off topic though - Quick, let's get back to the kangaroo court......!

Whooaaa easy there tiger! I can understand you being annoyed about a certain element of people here in 'your' country, but think it through! Should Europe and America get rid of all Chinese immigrant because some of them are triads? Its good to know that its not just ignorant westerners who complain about 'foreigners' messing up theri country. I have a Thai friend who went to London on business recently and when he got back he raved about the girls who advertise in the phone baxs for having such 'soft white skin' but didn't rate the London go go bars.

Last time I looked some thai people were doing a really good job at messing things up in their own country. I can see that your last post was your first post. They call inflamatory remarks like you made 'trolling' and can get you a short holiday from the forum.

I think you will find that 90%+ of the 'gogo/bar' facilities are in existence to cater for the local Thai market.

Having said that, I do feel somewhat embarassed to drive down Soi 4 (my office is there) every morning, only to see your aforementioned pot-bellied Farang beers swillers at 8.30am.

Please dont tar us all with the same brush!

Just saw a New Zealand TV interview with his New Zealand 'victim'. She seems to be a fairly intellegent woman and claims to have researched the pros and cons of ozone treatment prior to placing herself in his care. Incidentally despite her illness and experiences in Thailand she appears to be fairly healthy. Acording to the report I saw her gripe is not with ozone treatment itself but with the fact that she was promised treatment in a proper hospital facility etc and that this was not provided.

He is Austrian, not Aussie...

Yes, but after being discredited in Austria some 25 or 30 years ago, he moved to the U.S., was stripped of his medical license in one state, moved to another state, was stripped of his medical license there, too, moved to Australia, had to flee Australia because of criminal charges, moved to Thailand.

So yes, he is an Austrian, but will be tried and incarcerated in Australia.

to mention that Hellfried Sartori is far away from beeing a typical Austrian name, so he might be the holder of an Austrian passport but not a "real" Austrian (must mention that, but after checking my bank account, I would also do many things for 1 million baht and I am also Austrian....)

What a terrible thing to do. Targetting people when they are at their most desperate with false hope. To make it worse they would have had to leave the places where possibly the treatment would have prolonged their lives or at least eased their suffering.

I simply cannot understand how someone could do this.

Cancer 'healer' quizzed in Thailand

Police from Australia have interviewed a former doctor held in a Thai prison for allegedly administering bogus cancer cures for patients who subsequently died, including some Australians.

One Australian Federal Police (AFP) officer and two Western Australian detectives talked with Hellfried Satori on Tuesday at a prison in the northern city of Chiang Mai.

Clint Guthridge of the AFP bureau in Chiang Mai said Sartori was quizzed about allegations against him in Australia.

AFP officers have also interviewed a number of people in Darwin, Perth and Melbourne concerning the deaths, which are alleged to have occurred after Sartori administered his special treatment in hotel rooms in Chiang Mai, or instructed "patients" via the internet on how they should self-administer his cancer "cures".

Sartori, 67, an Austrian citizen was arrested at his home in Chiang Mai last month.

Thai police have charged him with fraud and falsely claiming to be a medical doctor.

Sources said Sartori had been cooperative when interviewed by the Australian officers for more than an hour.

However, they said he "clammed up" when the questioning became "more difficult" and centred on the deaths of four people in Perth last year.

Sartori was educated at the University of Graz in Austria and graduated in medicine 40 years ago - later moving to the United States where he was barred from practising medicine in a number of places, including Maryland and Washington.

He also served prison time there as a result of his providing his treatment to American patients while he was disqualified.

In an interview with AAP last month Sartori insisted he was still a registered physician in some parts of the world, though not in Thailand where he said he acted only as a "technician" while nurses injected patients with chemicals that police have said were dangerous.

Last week Sartori was rushed to Mae Rim State Hospital by ambulance after collapsing with what his wife said was an epileptic fit - but within 24 hours Thai doctors had examined Mr Sartori and said there was nothing physically wrong with him.

He was then moved to the central jail after being detained in Chiang Mai's Number Four police station for the past three weeks.

Thai police say that since Sartori has now been formally charged, the case is out of their hands and he will appear in court to face trial soon.

His former Thai lawyer, Supawat Pornjirayuwat, has been replaced by local lawyer Ajarn Kiettisak, who told AAP that his client would have to appear in court within 21 days to stand trial under Thai law.

Sartori could be jailed for up to five years if convicted of falsely representing himself as a doctor and fraudulently inducing an American man to pay him a deposit of $A30,000 for treatment which he never received.

Sartori denies any wrongdoing.

It is understood that the AFP have been amassing a large amount of evidence against Sartori in Thailand and elsewhere, and have in their possession DVD's of him giving "treatment" to a number of people from Australia and New Zealand.

Discredited therapist still offers treatments

A discredited Port Melbourne therapist, barred by the Federal Court from claiming that he can cure cancer, has said he will continue to offer treatment with the same unproved "remedies".

Paul Rana, the founder of the NuEra Health clinic, told The Age he planned to defend a case initiated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, which alleges he has deceived cancer sufferers.

The ACCC secured court orders last week temporarily barring Mr Rana and his sons, Christopher and Michael, operators of the insolvent Port Melbourne clinic, from claiming their so-called remedies cured cancer.

None of the family contested the ACCC's action last week.

It is the first formal move against Mr Rana and NuEra by regulators, who began investigations after a series of articles in The Age exposed his business practices and links to the discredited Austrian doctor Hellfried Sartori, who remains in police custody in Thailand.

Sartori is being investigated in relation to the deaths of several people, including a Swedish woman who died in late June, four days after he injected her with liquid ozone.

Mr Rana has taken seriously ill clients to visit Sartori in Chiang Mai, and hosted Sartori during his earlier Australian visits.

The Age earlier this year revealed that Mr Rana charged desperately ill cancer patients tens of thousands of dollars, claiming he could cure them and prolong life using unproved remedies including diets of juices, high doses of vitamins, ozone therapy, coffee enemas, infra-red treatment and magnetic pulses.

Documents filed with the Federal Court by the ACCC allege Mr Rana told people attending a seminar at the Mildura Golf Club in April that "cancer is a parasite which we catch from chemicals, additives in food and by not eating to our blood types".

He also allegedly said at the same seminar that he had "actually saved people from cancer … I've done it, I'll show you proof."

Mr Rana said the ACCC's allegations were lies, and he never gave guarantees. "I have never said that I can cure cancer."

NuEra closed two months ago, he said. "Certainly if anybody asks me for help, I will help in any way I can, but I won't make any claims as to cancer cures because that's what the court orders say."

The case returns to court in early February.

I personally wish you all would take your prostitute girlfriends and go back home. There are too many of you that are dishonest, scam artists, and running from the law living here. You walk around our streets with your shirt wide open or even shirtless, create more problems by opening more girl bars, buying our land and destroying our country. Personally I work in Thailand with a Thai company and they do a very, very professional job.

My girlfriend is a most lovely lady with a Science degree and works for an international engineering company of German origin.

I get on just great in any place I am in, in your wonderful country although I do tend to avoid the Pattaya's and Patpong's of YOUR country and areas which YOUR country person's own and take the profit from.

You get on the high horse that seem to own and start bleating about corruption in YOUR country,

then perhaps the points you make might be worth one Satang.

As it is, it is only too easy to attack the foreigner - they have no rights.

At least if you go to my country - and even if you are an immigrant whore you have some rights under law.

Get a life and open your eyes - who makes the profit from prostitution and drugs in YOUR country?.

He has changed a fair bit since I saw him 2 weeks prior to his arrest!

He's lost the crocidile skin tan and he's been able to get some hair dye from somewhere as it was a lot greyer in July!
