PATTAYA: -- Late on Tuesday Night Security Guards at Big C Extra in Central Pattaya apprehended a Turkish man accused of taking items from the store without making an attempt to pay for them.

The suspected shoplifter, Mr. Sam Hedayat aged 64, was taken to Pattaya Police Station along with the stolen items. He is suspected of taking eight pieces of women’s clothing and was initially spotted by one of the Guards acting in a suspicious manner in the ladies clothing section of the store.

He was also reportedly seen placing the clothing items inside his trousers and then attempted to leave the store without paying for them. The total value of the items is approximately 3,000 Baht.

Neither Sam or Hedayat is a Turkish name / lastname.

If they found a passport with this name, it could be a syrian refugee or ethnic minority born / living in Turkey.

In both cases, it is wrong to call him Turk, because he is not an ethnic (majority) Turk.

A simple search:

https://www.facebook.com/search/more/?q=Sam+Hedayat&init=public

Shows he is either arabic or farsi (I can't differentiate alphabet)

No any Turkish citizen can be too stupid to commit a minor crime and go to Monkey House (Jail) in Thailand.

I can't help but feel sorry for this guy.

Who knows what the reason is behind him shoplifting women's clothing, it could be that he needs help or perhaps he wanted to get caught.

Whatever the truth behind the story it's sure be a sad one, but we probably won't hear anything beyond the attention grabbing headline.

This is an exceptional piece of reporting. All you other media, take a good look and see how it's done! It's concise, sequential, uncomplicated and impartial - the story on Pattaya One even got a cliff hanger.

The only problem is the content: shoplifting...really?!

I guess his plans for becoming a katoey will have to wait for a while whistling.gif

First he needs to look in a mirror

Not necessarily, he might become everyone’s Teerak in the Monkey House. Also, could have been an instant Katoey celeb (if the powers that be gave the thumbs up) if allowed to keep the garb from Big C for his/others entertainment. cheesy.gif

Wonder is he was on overstay/wrong visa ... Now there's more nefarious

SERIOUS CRIMES that will not be tolerated !!!!!

I would like to hear his side to the story...he stole clothes for who? and why? In his mind he thought it was worth doing.....looks like he is not experienced at this.

What an embarrassing end to what he may of thought a justifiable good deed for someone.

What else do you call stealing from a store? I thought shop lifting nailed it right on the head.
