Is it necessary to cancel my WP and visa

Featured Replies

If I decided to buy a one way ticket and move back to my home country, is it necessary for me to have my employer cancel my work permit and my visa before I leave or can I just head to the airport?

No flames please.

Thanks very much

You employer should cancel your work permit.

If you are flying out you do not need to cancel your extension of stay (it is not a visa) unless you have a valid re-entry permit and plan on returning before it expires.

Thanks ubonjoe.........unfortunately it's back to the home country for good.

Does it show up when I go through Immigration at the airport as to whether or not my WP has been cancelled? Is it a big deal if it hasn't been cancelled?

Your work permit cancellation will not be reported to immigration. You employer could cancel it after you leave,

Only if your extension was canceled would that show up when you leave.

Thanks for your help

You should leave your WP with your employer so they can cancel it with ease.

Can you leave the country by air....return on a Tourist visa...then cancel your Work Permit?

I have already returned on a Tourist visa... but did nor cancel the WP and have recently read that may cause problems with a future WP.

Both will expire in time so u can leave without problems.
